Manyavar is a men's ethnic wear brand founded in India by entrepreneur Ravi Modi in 1999 under his company Vedanta Fashion. [1] Manyavar offers sherwanis, kurtas and Indo-western clothing for men. The brand started with a 150 square foot store in Kolkata [2] and has now expanded to over 570 stores in 180 cities in India and abroad. [3]

History

Manyavar started supplying to individual multi-brand outlets (MBO) in 2001. [1] However in 2008, a second exclusive brand outlet store was launched as a result of lower real estate prices that happened due to the economic recession. Since then the brand has opened an average of two stores every week. In 2012, the brand opened its 200th store in Delhi spanning 21,000 square feet. [4] In 2014, Manyavar opened its second largest store at 16,000 sq ft in Lower Parel, Mumbai.

Marketing

Manyavar was the principal sponsor of four teams in the Indian Premier League in 2018: Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals. Key players from each season of these teams were seen wearing Manyavar's clothes for the advertisements. The promotion through IPL has benefited Manyavar in terms of increased awareness among public. Manyavar was also the title sponsor of the Bangladesh Football League for the 2014–2015 season. [6]

Philanthropy

Manas, a foundation started by Ravi Modi is a social organization that performs heart surgeries for the less privileged. [4] The organization helps run several schools through Ekal as well as supports the tribal community by providing medical and financial relief.

The 2020 Indian Premier League was the thirteenth season of the Indian Premier League, a professional Twenty20 cricket (T20) league established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2008. Aza Fashions is a multi-designer omnichannel retail chain that sells luxury apparel, kidswear, jewellery, accessories, and home décor products, in India and globally. Established by Dr. Alka Nishar in 2005, the brand showcases collections for women and men by Indian fashion designers.

Ramraj Cotton is an Indian ethnic wear brand and it is a brainchild of K. R. Nagarajan. Ramraj stepped into the textile business, predominantly selling white cotton shirts, dhotis and lungis. Ramraj Cotton has gained substantial market shares in the textile industry and gained a reputation as a market leader in the ethnic wear industry. Ramraj has been reportedly manufacturing about 2,500 different varieties of dhotis. The popularity of the Ramraj brand which was solely due to its concept focusing on ethnic wear also paved the way for other brands such as Mister White, MCR to jump bandwagon. The Ramraj Cotton company exports textile materials to Sri Lanka, Singapore and Malaysia.
