Marathwada Institute of Technology (MIT), is a private engineering college located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India. It is one of the technical institutes of Gramodyogik Shikshan Mandal (GSM).

History

The parent trust, Gramaudyogik Shikshan Mandal (GSM), was established in 1975. [1]

Academics

MIT provides both undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate programs for Indian and International students. Admission to the undergraduate courses is through the Maharashtra-Common Entrance Test for state-allocated seats (65%) and through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) for all-India seats.

The college is affiliated to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University (BATU). [2] The engineering courses are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) [3] and the architecture courses are approved by the Council of Architecture (COA). [4] The institute is National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accredited, with a grade of B+. [5]

Marathwada Institute of Technology was ranked 98 in Outlook India 's "Top 100 Engineering Colleges in 2018". [6]

Organization and administration

At the institutional level, MIT is governed by a board of governors headed by a president and a director general. [7] The board includes nominees from the GSM trust and members having specialized knowledge or practical experience in education, engineering or science.

For all academic matters, the academic advisory body is the authority having control and responsibility for the maintenance of standards of education and consists of reputed technologists or industrialists from the field of science and engineering.

The key people in the day-to-day operation of the institute are the principal and vice principal, assisted by heads of departments and a student council. The administration is managed by the registrar and administrative office

Campus

The foundation stone of MIT building was laid by Late Anandraoji Deshmukh in 1975.[ citation needed ] The Central library is spread over 1500 sq.metres area. [8] There are separate Hostels for boys and girls. There are also sports facilities like a spacious playground for games and recreation.

Government College of Engineering, Aurangabad (GECA) is an autonomous engineering Institute in Maharashtra state of India. It is affiliated with the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and was established in 1960. The construction of the college was started in 1957 and was completed in 1960. Later on, it included the extension building that presently houses the Electronics and Telecommunication Department, Computer Science Engineering Department and Master of Computer Application Department. The recently constructed classroom complex houses the classes of first year students of all branches along with the Information Technology Department.

Balaghat Engineering College (BEC), is located at Rudha in Ahmedpur Tehsil in Latur district of Maharashtra state. The college was founded in 2009. The college provides both diploma and degree education. In degree education, the college provides education in Civil, Computer, Electrical, Electronics & Telecommunication and Mechanical engineering and has 60 seats per branch. The departments received accreditation from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) in 2010 when they started. The college is unaided, non-autonomous and non-minority. In 2013 it was affiliated with the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded. By 2024 it was affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University. Modern education was introduced to Maharashtra region during the 19th century by British colonial administration. Census of 2011 showed literacy rates in the state for males and females were around 78% and 67% respectively. Gangadhar Vithoba Pantawane was an Indian Marathi language writer, reviewer and Ambedkarite thinker from the state of Maharashtra. He was the follower of B. R. Ambedkar, polymath and the father of the Indian Constitution. He is one of the pioneers of the dalit literary movement in Maharashtra. In 2008, he was elected president of the first Marathi Vishwa Sahitya Sammelan that was held in the United States. His pioneering journal, Asmitadarsh, galvanised generations of Dalit writers and thinkers. In 2018, he was honored with the Padma Shri by the Government of India.
