Margo F. Jonker is an American softball coach and the current head coach of the Central Michigan Chippewas. She was a 2003 inductee in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Career

During her 31 years as head coach, the Chippewas have gone to the NCAA tournament 13 times and have 11 Mid-American Conference (MAC) titles. Jonker was formerly an assistant softball coach at Grand Valley State University and head coach at West Ottawa High School. CMU's Margo Jonker stadium is named after her.

At the 2000 Olympics she served as an assistant coach on the United States Olympic softball team that captured the gold medal in Sydney, Australia. [2]

She is a Holland, Michigan native and attended and played softball for the Grand Valley State Lakers. [3]

The Eastern Michigan Eagles, formerly known as the Normalites and the Hurons, are the athletic teams for Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan, United States. The Eagles compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level as members of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The only exception is the women's rowing program, which is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association. Altogether, the Eagles have won three NCAA Division II national championships and 13 NAIA Division I national championships in five different sports ; moreover, EMU has been NCAA Division I national runner-up twice. In 1940, the men's cross country team finished second to Indiana University at the national meet hosted by Michigan State University.

The Central Michigan Chippewas are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Central Michigan University (CMU), located in Mount Pleasant, Michigan. The school fields sixteen men's and women's intercollegiate teams that compete at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level.

Keno Emlen Davis an American basketball coach who is the head coach for the Flint United. He was most recently the men's basketball head coach at Central Michigan University. Davis was previously head coach at Drake University for one season (2007–2008), where he was named the 2008 Associated Press College Basketball Coach of the Year, and at Providence College for three seasons (2008-2011). Davis also served as an assistant coach at Drake from 2003–2007 under his father Tom Davis prior to starting his coaching career.

Ernest Franklin Zeigler II is an American college basketball coach, currently an assistant at the University of Nebraska. He spent the previous eight seasons as an assistant coach at Mississippi State, and prior to that was the men's head coach at Central Michigan University. He received a Bachelor's in Business Management from Cleary College in 1994. He played collegiately at Schoolcraft College (1984–86), Armstrong Atlantic State University (1986–87) and Northwood University (1987–88).

Lyle Allen "Butch" Jones Jr. is an American football coach who is currently the head coach at Arkansas State University. Jones previously served as a special assistant to the head coach and offensive analyst at the University of Alabama from 2018 to 2020, the head coach at the University of Tennessee from 2013 to 2017, the University of Cincinnati from 2010 to 2012 and Central Michigan University from 2007 to 2009. He was the offensive coordinator at the University of Alabama from 2008 to 2011.

Susan Marie Guevara is the former head women's basketball coach at Central Michigan University. She previously served as the head women's basketball coach at the University of Michigan from 1996 to 2003. Sue announced her retirement from CMU on July 12, 2019.

Jennifer Yvonne McFalls is an American, former collegiate All-American, gold-medal winning Olympian softball player and current head coach originally from Grand Prairie, Texas. She is head of the Kansas Jayhawks softball. team She played college softball at Texas A&M as a utility player and shortstop. She then went on to represent Team USA, being named an Olympic alternate in 1996 and a member of the 2000 team that won gold. After her years playing softball McFalls decided to become a coach with her first position as the assistant coach at Texas A&M. Mcfalls continued to coach for many years with several different schools at many different competitive levels. She was the head coach of the National Pro Fastpitch professional softball team, the Dallas Charge for their inaugural season.

Jay Steven Smith is an American college basketball coach. He currently serves in an administrative role for the men's basketball team at the University of Michigan. He was a former head coach at Grand Valley State University (1996–97) and Central Michigan University (1997–2006). He has also been an assistant coach at the University of Michigan and the University of Detroit.

The 2009 Central Michigan Chippewas football team represented Central Michigan University during the 2009 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Central Michigan competed as a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) West Division. The team was coached by Butch Jones and played their home games in Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The Chippewas finished the regular season 10–2 and 8–0 in conference play, beat Ohio in the 2009 MAC Championship Game to win the MAC title and were invited to the GMAC Bowl where they defeated Sun Belt Champion Troy 44–41 in double overtime.

The 2004 Central Michigan Chippewas football team was an American football team that represented Central Michigan University in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) during the 2004 NCAA Division I-A football season. In their first season under head coach Brian Kelly, the Chippewas compiled a 4–7 record, finished in fifth place in the MAC's West Division, and were outscored by their opponents, 378 to 260. The team played its home games in Kelly/Shorts Stadium in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, with attendance of 75,216 in five home games.

Tim Banks, is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the defensive coordinator and Safeties coach for the Tennessee Volunteers. He played college football for the Central Michigan Chippewas.

The 2018–19 Central Michigan Chippewas women's basketball team represented Central Michigan University during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Chippewas, led by twelfth-year head coach Sue Guevara, played their home games at McGuirk Arena as members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 25–8, 15–3 in MAC play to win the MAC West Division. The Chippewas advanced to the semifinals of the MAC women's tournament, losing there to Buffalo. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA women's tournament, losing to their in-state rival Michigan State in the first round.

Heather Oesterle is the former head coach of Central Michigan women's basketball team. Oesterle was named CMU's head women's basketball coach in July, 2019, succeeding her long-time mentor Sue Guevara. Oesterle served for nine seasons on Guevara's staff at CMU, helping lead the program to unprecedented heights including three Mid-American Conference championships, two MAC Tournament titles, and five MAC West Division crowns. She earned her bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Michigan in 2002 and her master's degree in sports studies from Miami in 2008.

Stephen P. Jaksa is an American college baseball coach and former pitcher. Jaksa is the head baseball coach at Saginaw Valley State University. He played college baseball at Central Michigan University from 1974 to 1979 for head coach Dave Keilitz. He was the head baseball coach at Northwood University in 1998 and at Central Michigan from 2002 to 2019.
