Maria Awori (born November 8, 1984) is a Kenyan former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. [1] Awori competed for Kenya, as a 15-year-old teen, in the women's 100 m freestyle at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. She received a ticket from FINA, under a Universality program, in an entry time of 1:04.00. [2] She challenged seven other swimmers in heat one, including fellow 15-year-old Nathalie Lee Baw of Mauritius. She raced to the third seed in a time of 1:06.23, more than two seconds below her entry standard. Awori failed to advance into the semifinals, as she placed forty-ninth overall in the prelims. The following day, in the 4×200 m freestyle relay, Lozumyrska and her teammates Olena Lapunova, Nadiya Beshevli, and Albina Bordunova were disqualified from heat one in the prelims for an early launch on the lead-off leg.

Nicole Isau Hayes is a retired Palauan swimmer and national record holder, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. Hayes became the first Palauan Olympic swimmer in history when she swam at the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Theekshana Ratnasekera is a Sri Lankan former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. She represented Sri Lanka, as an 18-year-old teen, at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and also held numerous age group and meet records in a sprint freestyle. Ratnasekera lost the race in the pre-Olympic selection to Radiesha Daluwatte, the teenage daughter of former Sri Lankan army commander Rohan Daluwatte, and the General filed a petition in the Court of Appeals to challenge the sports officials' decision to send Ratnasekera to the Olympics.

Runa Pradhan is a Nepalese former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. Pradhan competed for Nepal, as a 15-year-old teen, in the women's 50 m freestyle at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. She received a ticket from FINA, under a Universality program, in an entry time of 31.70. She challenged six other swimmers in heat two, including Cambodia's two-time Olympian Hem Raksmey and Maldives' 13-year-old Fariha Fathimath. She scorched the field to race for the third seed in 31.28, cutting off her lifetime best and a Nepalese record by 0.42 seconds. Pradhan failed to advance into the semifinals, as she placed sixty-sixth overall in the prelims.

Melanie Dodd is an Australian former swimmer who specialized in sprint freestyle events. She represented the host nation Australia, as a 27-year-old, at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and also trained for the Australian Institute of Sport, under Russian-based swim coach Gennadi Touretski. She won two medals, a silver and bronze, in the 4×100-metre freestyle relay at the 1995 FINA Short Course World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, and 1999 FINA Short Course World Championships in Hong Kong.

Valentyna Trehub is a Ukrainian former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. Trehub competed for Ukraine in two relay swimming events at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. On the first day of the Games, Trehub teamed up with Nadiya Beshevli, Olena Lapunova, and Olga Mukomol in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay. Swimming the second leg, she recorded a split of 57.39, but the Ukrainians rounded out the seven-team field to last place and thirteenth overall in a final time of 3:49.11. Because of her powerful effort in the freestyle relay and Mukomol's decision to focus on her sprint double, Trehub was selected to join with Beshevli, Svitlana Bondarenko, and Olena Hrytsyuk in the 4 × 100 m medley relay. During the prelims race, she swam the freestyle leg in heat three with an anchor of 58.22 to deliver a fifth-place finish and sixteenth overall for the Ukrainians in 4:15.64.
