A liberal arts college or liberal arts institution of higher education is a college with an emphasis on undergraduate study in the liberal arts of humanities and science. Such colleges aim to impart a broad general knowledge and develop general intellectual capacities, in contrast to a professional or vocational curriculum. Students in a liberal arts college generally major in a particular discipline while receiving exposure to a wide range of academic subjects, including general sciences as well as the traditional humanities subjects taught as liberal arts. Although it draws on European antecedents, the liberal arts college is strongly associated with American higher education, and most liberal arts colleges around the world draw explicitly on the American model.
The National University of Singapore (NUS) is a national public research university in Singapore. It was officially established in 1980 by the merger of the University of Singapore and Nanyang University.

Sylvia Therese Richardson is a French/British Bayesian statistician and is currently Professor of Biostatistics and Director of the MRC Biostatistics Unit at the University of Cambridge. In 2021 she became the president of the Royal Statistical Society for the 2021–22 year.
Christopher C. Holmes is a British statistician. He has held the position of Professor of Biostatistics in Genomics in the Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine and the Department of Statistics at the University of Oxford since September 2014, a post that carries with it a Fellowship of St Anne's College, Oxford. Previously he was titular Professor of Biostatistics and a Fellow of Lincoln College. After working in industry he completed his doctorate in Bayesian statistics at Imperial College, London, supervised by Adrian Smith.
Tan Eng Chye is a Singaporean mathematician and university administrator who has been serving as the third president of the National University of Singapore since 2018. Prior to his presidency, he served as the deputy president of academic affairs and provost at the National University of Singapore.

Tan Tai Yong is a Singaporean academic who is the current President of Singapore University of Social Sciences. He served as the President of Yale-NUS College from 2017 to 2022. He is also Chairman of the Management Board of the Institute of South Asian Studies, an autonomous university-level research institute in NUS. He was a former Nominated Member of Parliament and served from 2014 to 2015.

Yale-NUS College is a liberal arts college in Singapore. Established in 2011 as a collaboration between Yale University and the National University of Singapore, it is the first liberal arts college in Singapore and one of the first few in Asia. With an average acceptance rate of 5.2%, it is among the most selective institutions in the world. Yale-NUS was the first institution outside New Haven, Connecticut that Yale University had developed in its 300-year history, making Yale one of the first American Ivy League schools to establish a college bearing its name in Asia.
Stuart Alan Geman is an American mathematician, known for influential contributions to computer vision, statistics, probability theory, machine learning, and the neurosciences. He and his brother, Donald Geman, are well known for proposing the Gibbs sampler, and for the first proof of convergence of the simulated annealing algorithm.
Deborah Ashby is a British statistician and academic who specialises in medical statistics and Bayesian statistics. She is the Director of the School of Public Health and Chair in Medical Statistics and Clinical Trials at Imperial College London. She was previously a lecturer then a reader at the University of Liverpool and a professor at Queen Mary University of London.
Bhramar Mukherjee is an Indian-American biostatistician, data scientist, professor and researcher. She is currently serving as the inaugural Senior Associate Dean of Public Health Data Science and Data Equity at the Yale School of Public Health from August 1, 2024. She is also appointed as Anna MR Lauder Professor of Biostatistics, Professor of Epidemiology with secondary appointment as Professor of Statistics and Data Science at Yale University.
Lily L.L. Kong is a Singaporean geographer currently serving as president of the Singapore Management University (SMU). She is the first female and Singaporean academic to helm a Singapore university. Prior joining SMU, she was a faculty member at the Department of Geography of the National University of Singapore (NUS) and had held various senior managerial positions at NUS.
Hui Cao (曹蕙) is a Chinese-American physicist who is the professor of applied physics, a professor of physics and a professor of electrical engineering at Yale University. Her research interests are mesoscopic physics, complex photonic materials and devices, with a focus on non-conventional lasers and their unique applications. She is an elected member of the US National Academy of Sciences and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Alexander Gammerman is a British computer scientist, and professor at Royal Holloway University of London. He is the co-inventor of conformal prediction. He is the founding director of the Centre for Machine Learning at Royal Holloway, University of London, and a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society.
Joanne Roberts is the third President and Professor of Social Sciences (Economics) at Yale-NUS College, the first liberal arts college in Singapore. She is also a professor at the National University of Singapore, Department of Economics.
Xinlei (Sherry) Wang is a Chinese and American statistician, the Jenkins-Garrett Professor of Statistics and Data Science at the University of Texas at Arlington. Her research has applied Bayesian statistics and machine learning to applications including computer security and genomics.
Cecilia Laschi is an Italian roboticist specializing in soft robotics and bio-inspired robotics, including the design of robot manipulators based on octopus tentacles and the biomedical applications of soft robotics. She is Provost’s Chair Professor of robotics at the National University of Singapore (NUS), head of the Soft Robotics Lab and co-director of the Centre for Advanced Robotics Technology and Innovation at NUS, on leave as professor in the BioRobotics Institute from the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Italy, and editor-in-chief of the journal Bioinspiration & Biomimetics.
