Maria Lea Pedini-Angelini (born 15 July[ citation needed ] 1954) served as a Captain Regent of San Marino from 1 April 1981 to 1 October 1981. She served with Gastone Pasolini. She was the first female head of state of San Marino and,at age 26,making her the youngest non-royal state leader in Europe since 1900. She later served as Director in the Ministry of Government and Foreign Affairs,and has been a non-resident Ambassador in the Ministry to France,Denmark,Sweden,Norway [1] and Hungary. [2]

San Marino,officially the Republic of San Marino and also known as the Most Serene Republic of San Marino,is a European microstate surrounded by Italy. Located on the northeastern side of the Apennine Mountains,it is the fifth-smallest country in the world,with a land area of just over 61 km2 and a population of 33,642,as of 2023.
As the only surviving medieval commune in the Italian Peninsula,the history of San Marino is intertwined with the medieval,Renaissance and modern-day history of the Italian peninsula,according to tradition beginning with its foundation in 301 AD.

Captains Regent are the two heads of state of the Republic of San Marino. They are elected every six months by the Grand and General Council,the country's legislative body. Normally the Regents are chosen from parties in coalition and serve a six-month term. The investiture of the Captains Regent takes place on 1 April and 1 October every year. This tradition dates back at least to 1243.
The Imola Circuit,officially called the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari,is a 4.909 km (3.050 mi) motor racing circuit. It is located in the town of Imola,in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy,40-kilometre (25 mi) east of Bologna. It is one of the few major international circuits to run in an anti-clockwise direction. San Marino did not participate in 2009 or 2010,with SMRTV citing financial difficulties as the reason for its withdrawal. Having failed to qualify in their first four attempts,the nation qualified for the contest's final for the first time in 2014. Valentina Monetta represented San Marino in 2012,2013,and 2014,making her the first entrant to participate in three consecutive contests since the 1960s. In 2019,Serhat managed to qualify to the final,marking the second appearance of the country in a Eurovision final and achieving their best result to date of 19th place. Following the 2020 contest's cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe,their 2020 candidate Senhit was again selected to represent San Marino in the following contest. She qualified to the final,making it the first time that San Marino made it to two consecutive finals.
