Marianela Quesada Barrantes (born April 17, 1988) is a Costa Rican swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. [1] She represented Costa Rica at the 2008 Summer Olympics; she currently holds the Costa Rican national record in both the 50 and 100 m freestyle. [2]
Quesada received a Universality invitation from FINA to compete as Costa Rica's lone female swimmer in the 50 m freestyle at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. [2] Swimming on the outside in heat six, Quesada could not beat the vastly experienced field to round out the race in last with a time of 28.11. Quesada failed to advance to the semifinals, as she placed fifty-seventh overall out of 92 swimmers in the prelims. [3] [4]
Claudia María Poll Ahrens is a Costa Rican-Nicaraguan former swimmer who competed in the 200 m to 800 m freestyle events. She is Costa Rica's only Olympic gold-medalist, having won the country's first Olympic gold medals at the 1996 Olympics in the 200 meter freestyle. Claudia also competed at the 2000 Olympics, where she won two bronze medals. She is a multiple national record holder in the freestyle events.
Jördis Steinegger is an Austrian swimmer who specialized in freestyle and individual medley events. She is a two-time Olympian, a nine-time long and short course Austrian record holder, and a member of the Linz Amateur Swimming Club in Linz, under her personal coach Marco Wolf.
Yoris Grandjean is a Belgian swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. He won two gold medals at the 2006 FINA Youth World Swimming Championships, and later represented Belgium at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Estebán Blanco Uhlenhaut is a Costa Rican former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. Blanco represented Costa Rica at the 2000 Summer Olympics. He currently holds a national record in the 50 m freestyle that stood for more than a decade.
