Marianne Vendel Thyrring is a Danish policy maker and political scientist. She has been Director of the Danish Meteorological Institute and Department Head at the Ministry of Environment of Denmark.
Thyrring graduated from Aarhus University in 1982 with a Cand.scient.pol. degree. [1] From 1984 to 1993, she worked in the Danish Ministry of Taxation. [2] She then worked for a year as an attaché at the Representation of Denmark to the European Union. [2]
In 1995, Thyrring became a Finance Manager at the Ministry of the Environment. [2] From 1999 to 2003, she was Deputy Chief of Staff in the Cabinet of Environment Commissioner Ritt Bjerregaard. [2] In 2003 she became head of the environmental policy area at the Danish Ministry of the Environment. [2] Then from 2007 until 2012, she was Head of Department in the Ministry of the Environment. [3]
In 2012, she left the Ministry of the Environment when she was appointed by the Ministry of the Interior of Denmark to conduct a study of the state of municipal-level democracy in Denmark. [4] In 2013, she became Director of the Danish Meteorological Institute. [2] At the Danish Meteorological Institute, she was involved in making the organization more public-facing, and making use of the large stores of weather-related data that it had. [5]
Thyrring was awarded the Knight's Cross of the 1st degree of the Order of the Dannebrog in 2012. [6]
The Japan Meteorological Agency, abbreviated JMA, is an agency of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. It is charged with gathering and providing results for the public in Japan that are obtained from data based on daily scientific observation and research into natural phenomena in the fields of meteorology, hydrology, seismology and volcanology, among other related scientific fields. Its headquarters is located in Minato, Tokyo.
The Order of the Dannebrog is a Danish order of chivalry instituted in 1671 by Christian V. Until 1808, membership in the Order was limited to fifty members of noble or royal rank, who formed a single class known as White Knights to distinguish them from the Blue Knights who were members of the Order of the Elephant. In 1808, the Order was reformed and divided into four classes. The statute of the Order was amended in 1951 by a Royal Ordinance so that both men and women could be members of the Order. Today, the Order of the Dannebrog is a means of honouring and rewarding the faithful servants of the modern Danish state for meritorious civil or military service, for a particular contribution to the arts, sciences or business life, or for working for Danish interests.
The National Environmental Research Institute of Denmark, abbreviated NERI, was an independent research institute under the Ministry of the Environment. It was created in 1989 by merging the existing laboratories of the Environmental Protection Agency, which covered marine, freshwater and air pollution, soil ecology and analytical chemistry, with the Danish Wildlife Research, under the Ministry of Agriculture. The laboratories were physically located on Risø, in Silkeborg and on Kalø, north of Aarhus. In 1995, Greenland Biological Research laboratory was added.
Harald Viggo Moltke was a Danish painter, author and explorer. As an explorer he acted as draftsman in four Arctic expeditions.
The Institute of Hydrology, Meteorology and Environmental Studies, also known by its acronym in Spanish, IDEAM, is a government agency of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development of Colombia. It is in charge of producing and managing the scientific and technical information on the environment of Colombia, and its territorial composition. The IDEAM also serves as the Colombian institute of meteorology and studies the climate of Colombia. The agency is currently led by the Director General, forestry engineer Yolanda González Hernandez. González Hernández is a specialist in Geographic Information Systems with a Masters in Meteorology Sciences from the National University of Colombia, and is the first woman to lead the agency.

Agnete Laustsen was a Danish Conservative People's Party politician. She served as a member of the Folketing representing the Søndre Storkreds constituency from October 1979 to March 1998. Laustsen was appointed the first Danish Minister of Health by Prime Minister Poul Schlüter, a post she held between September 1987 and June 1988, and was subsequently appointed as the first woman to hold the position of Minister of Housing between June 1988 and December 1990. She was appointed Commander of the Order of the Dannebrog in 1989.
Mette Margrethe Koefoed Bjørnsen was a Danish author, conciliator and economist who was chair of the Conciliation Institution from 1988 to 1992. She worked as an education inspection at the Ministry of Trade's Supervision of the Business School in 1959 and was an associate professor of economics and statistics at the Social College in Copenhagen in 1964. Bjørnsen was an associate professor of economics and statistics head of department of the department of history at the Danish Teacher Training College between 1971 and 1990 and was chair of the Danish Writers' Association from 1991 to 1997. She was appointed Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog in 1986 and was upgraded to Knight First Class in 1993.
