In 1999, Auch announced her retirement from competition, but changed her mind and competed in a fifth Winter Olympics, the 2002 games at Salt Lake City, but didn't reach the podium and retired after those games.

She is also the 1978 Skate Canada International champion, 1975 Nebelhorn Trophy champion, 1979 NHK Trophy Silver Medalist, and a four-time U.S. national medalist. She competed at the 1980 Winter Olympics, placing fifth.
