Marina Promenade is a park in Singapore that links Kallang Riverside Park in the north to Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay in the south. The entire park is situated on the western bank of the Kallang Basin and Marina Channel, along Republic Avenue and Republic Boulevard. [1] Notable landmarks along the park include the Merdeka Bridge, the Benjamin Sheares Bridge, the Singapore Flyer and the Helix Bridge.
Marina Promenade extends across two planning areas in the Central Region of Singapore: Kallang and Downtown Core.
Marina Promenade provides excellent scenery of the Singapore skyline, the Singapore Sports Hub as well as the Marina Bay Sands. The park is in close proximity to Promenade and Nicoll Highway MRT stations.
The Circle Line (CCL) is a medium-capacity Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line in Singapore. It runs in a loop from Dhoby Ghaut station in the city-centre to HarbourFront station in the south via Bishan station in the centre of the country. It also has a branch to Marina Bay station from Promenade station, which will be extended to HarbourFront station from 2026 to form a complete loop. Coloured orange on the rail map, the fully-underground line is approximately 35.5 kilometres (22.1 mi) long with 30 stations. Travelling from one end of the line to the other takes about an hour.
The Central Region is one of the five regions in the city-state of Singapore and the main metropolitan region surrounding the Central Area. Comprising 13,150 hectares of land area, it includes 11 planning areas within the Central Area, as well as another 11 more outside it. The region is home to many of Singapore's national monuments as it was historically the site where the city was first founded and the country's only UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a 165-year-old tropical garden is also located in the region.
The East Coast Parkway is an expressway that runs along the southeastern coast of Singapore. It is approximately 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) in length. As of July 2022, it is Singapore's third-longest expressway.
Kallang is a planning area and residential zone located in the Central Region of Singapore.
The Kallang River is the longest river in Singapore, flowing for 10 kilometers from the Lower Peirce Reservoir to the Kallang Basin. It originates in the planning area of Central Water Catchment, flows in a southeast direction through Bishan and Toa Payoh, before finally arriving in Kallang.
The Singapore River is a river that flows parallel to Alexandra Road and feeds into the Marina Reservoir in the southern part of Singapore. The immediate upper watershed of the Singapore River is known as the Singapore River Planning Area, although the western part of the watershed is classified under the River Valley planning area.
Marina Bay is a bay located in the Central Area of Singapore, surrounded by the perimeter of four other planning areas, the Downtown Core, Marina East, Marina South and Straits View. The area surrounding the bay itself, also called Marina Bay, is a 360 hectare extension to the adjacent Central Business District. It is also the new downtown of Singapore, built on Singapore's reclaimed land.
The Downtown Core is the historical and downtown centre of the city-state of Singapore and the main commercial area in Singapore excluding reclaimed lands with many integrated resorts such as the Marina Bay Sands, one of the most expensive buildings in the world, with a luxurious standalone casino at Bayfront Avenue. There are many skyscrapers in Raffles Place, Tanjong Pagar and Marina Bay CBD with a height limit of 280m. It is one of the eleven planning areas located within the most urbanised Central Area, forming the latter's dense urban core. It is bounded by Rochor to the north, Kallang to the northeast, Marina East and Marina South to the east, Straits View to the southeast, Bukit Merah to the south, as well as Outram, Museum and Singapore River to the west.
Promenade MRT station is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) interchange station on the Downtown (DTL) and Circle (CCL) lines in Downtown Core, Singapore. Located underneath Temasek Avenue and adjacent to Millenia Tower, the station serves several key attractions and locations such as Suntec City and the Marina Promenade, which the station is named after. The station is at the junction of the Dhoby Ghaut and Marina Bay branches of the CCL.
The Benjamin Sheares Bridge is the longest bridge in Singapore, spanning 1.8 km, and the tallest, at 29 metres (95 ft). It is named after Benjamin Sheares, the second President of Singapore, who died four months before the bridge was opened to the public on 26 September 1981. The bridge is part of the East Coast Parkway (ECP), at the western end of the expressway. The cost of construction was S$110 million.

Located in the Downtown Core underneath Republic Avenue near the Kallang River, the station serves commercial and residential developments along Nicoll Highway, such as the Golden Mile Complex and The Concourse. Marina Barrage is a dam in southern Singapore built at the confluence of five rivers, across the Marina Channel between Marina East and Marina South.
Kallang Basin is an enclosed bay in Kallang, Singapore. The Kallang River, Rochor River and Geylang River empty into the Kallang Basin. The Marina Channel connects the Kallang Basin with the Singapore Straits.
Tanjong Rhu, is a subzone within the planning area of Kallang, Singapore, as defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). The perimeter of Tanjong Rhu is made up of Nicoll Highway in the north; Mountbatten Road and Fort Road in the east; East Coast Parkway (ECP) in the south; as well as Marina Channel and Kallang Basin in the west. Tanjong Rhu is the largest in terms of physical area among the nine subzones that make up Kallang.
Nicoll Highway is a major arterial road in Singapore which links the junctions of Guillemard Road, Sims Way and Mountbatten Road in Kallang to the junctions of Esplanade Drive, Raffles Avenue and Stamford Road in the city. En route, it passes through the areas of Kallang, Kampong Glam and Marina Centre.
The Marina Reservoir is a reservoir in Singapore formed in 2008 by building a dam across the mouth of the Marina Channel. With the completion of the Marina Barrage on 30 October 2008, the reservoir, which contained mainly salt water, became freshwater and started operations at 7 pm on 20 November 2010 after a process of natural desalination, when excess water was released out to the sea after heavy rains. The reservoir will provide 10% of the island's water needs.
Kallang Riverside Park is a riverine park in Kallang, Singapore. It sits on the confluence of the Kallang River and Rochor River, north of the Kallang Basin.
Crawford is a subzone within the planning area of Kallang, Singapore, as defined by the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). Its perimeter is made up of Rochor River and Rochor Canal in the north; Crawford Street, Nicoll Highway, Kallang Basin and Marina Channel in the east; East Coast Parkway (ECP) in the south; as well as Ophir Road, Beach Road and Jalan Sultan in the west.
Marina Channel is a waterway in southern Singapore that connects the Kallang Basin in the north and Marina Bay in the west to the Singapore Straits in the south. Formed as a result of land reclamation in the 1980s, the Marina Channel effectively shifted Singapore's southern coastline further southwards from the Kallang Basin area. Marina Channel serves to separate Marina East and Kallang in the east from Marina South in the west. Both sides are connected by Singapore's tallest bridge, the Benjamin Sheares Bridge.
