Marin County is located in the northwestern part of the San Francisco Bay Area of the U.S. state of California. As of the 2010 census, the population was 252,409. Its county seat is San Rafael. Marin County is across the Golden Gate Bridge from San Francisco, and is included in the San Francisco–Oakland–Berkeley, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Novato is a city in northern Marin County, in the North Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area, in the U.S. state of California. At the 2010 census, its population was 51,904. Founded on August 22, 1811, as the Greensburg Gazette and in 1889 consolidated with several papers into the Greensburg Tribune-Review, the paper circulated only in the eastern suburban counties of Westmoreland and parts of Indiana and Fayette until May 1992, when it began serving all of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area after a strike at the two Pittsburgh dailies, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and Pittsburgh Press, deprived the city of a newspaper for several months.
Bay Area News Group (BANG) is the largest publisher of daily and weekly newspapers in the San Francisco Bay Area, including its flagship The Mercury News. A subsidiary of the Denver-based MediaNews Group, its corporate headquarters is in San Ramon, California, and publication offices in San Jose and Walnut Creek, although the Walnut Creek location was scheduled to be closed under a 2011 restructuring. Metro Newspapers, also known as Weeklys, is an American newspaper company based in San Jose, California. Swift's primary markets are resort town tabloid newspapers and websites as well as agricultural publications. Radio Sausalito is a "Part 15" AM radio station broadcasting a Big Band Jazz format on 1610 & 1710 kHz. The station is noncommercial and serves the Southern Marin County, California area. The station has partnerships with the local paper, the local library, and local businesses which host its programs. Its programming is also made available online via podcasts. The station has an agreement with the city of Sausalito to provide information to residents in the event of an emergency. In 2009 the station was selected as the audio accompaniment to the community calendar on Marin TV cable channels 26, 27, and 30. For several years Radio Sausalito was broadcasting on 1710 AM in Central San Rafael so as to broadcast the first and last games of the San Rafael Pacifics baseball team. In 2015 the station began broadcasting online and boasts a worldwide audience of over 10,000 per month.

The Half Moon Bay Review is an American online news source and broadsheet newspaper that has been serving the Coastside area of San Mateo County, California, from Pacifica to the Santa Cruz County line since 1898. It is published each Wednesday morning and circulated by mail, counter, and rack sales to homes and businesses on the Coastside. The Review also publishes free magazines throughout the Bay Area, including On The Coastside, Neighborhoods, Coastside Guide, Readers Choice, and Eat.
California Newspapers Partnership is a publisher of more than two dozen daily newspapers and several weekly newspapers in the United States state of California. The partnership is managed as a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, its majority owner. The minority partner is Stephens Media, with roughly a one-quarter ownership stake.
The Museum of the American Indian is located in Novato, California, US. Situated on the site of a former Coast Miwok settlement. The museum is within the 35 acres (14 ha) Miwok Park in northern Marin County. Founded in the 1967, after the Novato High School Archaeology Club petitioned the Novato board of supervisors to lobby for an antiquities ordinance to ensure the preservation of the local artifacts and remains. The ordinance was approved. In May 1967, the Novato High School Archaeology Club published their official “Report on the Excavation of Marin – 374." This led to a write-up in the December 1967 issue of the magazine “Scientific American.” Club member, Pete Moore advocated for a location to house the artifacts unearthed during the club's digs. In 1967, the Museum of the American Indian opened its doors.

The Central Marin Police Authority (CMPA) is a police agency in Marin County, California, covering Corte Madera, Larkspur, San Anselmo and portions of Greenbrae. In 1980 Corte Madera and its neighbor Larkspur merged their police departments into the Twin Cities Police Authority. Then on January 1, 2013, after two years of planning and public discussion, the Twin Cities Police Authority and the police department of San Anselmo merged agencies and became the Central Marin Police Authority.
