Mario Theodore Solomons (born 24 February 1971) is a former South African first-class cricketer. [1]
He featured in the Western Province squad for their unofficial three-day first-class match against the touring Australian squad which was played in February 1997 and the match was scheduled as part of an important bilateral series between Australia and South Africa which included 3 Test matches and 7 ODI matches. [2] Australians faced an almighty scare during the first-class match which they played against Western Province, but managed to sneak though by winning the contest by a margin of 32 runs and during the fourth innings, Mario's valiant yet vital contribution with the bat scoring 28 runs off 37 deliveries was not adequate enough for Western Province to get closer to a mammoth target of 354. [2] He also chipped in with three catches behind the stumps during the game against the touring Australians in across both the innings. [1]
In February 2025, he was named as the captain of the South Africa squad for the Over-50s Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka. [3]
