The Samajwadi Party is a socialist political party in India. It was founded on 4 October 1992 by former Janata Dal politician Mulayam Singh Yadav and is headquartered in New Delhi. The Samajwadi Party is currently led by former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav.
Bahraich is a city and a municipal board in Bahraich district in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Akhilesh Yadav is an Indian politician and national president of the Samajwadi Party who served as the 20th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, also known as Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha, is the lower house of the bicameral legislature of Uttar Pradesh. There are 403 seats in the house. Members of the Assembly are elected by an adult universal suffrage and a first-past-the-post system to represent their respective constituencies, and they hold their seats for five years or until the body is dissolved by the Governor on the advice of the council of ministers. The house meets in the Vidhan Sabha Chambers of the Vidhan Bhavan, Lucknow.
Anupriya Singh Patel is an Indian politician, teacher and social worker from the state of Uttar Pradesh who is the President of Apna Dal (Soneylal) party since 2016 and the Minister of State for Commerce and Industry of India since 7 July 2021. She has represented Mirzapur in the Lok Sabha since 2014. She was the Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India from 2016 to 2019. She was previously elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Rohaniya constituency of the Legislature of Uttar Pradesh in Varanasi, where she had fought campaigns in alliance with the Peace Party of India and the Bundelkhand Congress from 2012 to 2014.
Dara Singh Chauhan is an Indian politician, currently serving as member of legislative council, and formerly represented the Madhuban in Uttar Pradesh as a member of Bharatiya Janata Party. He was former Cabinet Minister in Yogi Adityanath ministry. He also represented Ghosi in the 15th Lok Sabha, where he was leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party. In 16th Lok Sabha, he was defeated by Harinarayan Rajbhar who represented Bharatiya Janata Party by more than 140,000 votes.
Lalji Verma is an Indian politician from the Samajwadi Party and former member of the Legislative Assembly. He represented Katehari Assembly constituency in 18th Uttar Pradesh Assembly. In 2024 Indian general elections, he was elected to Indian Parliament, Lok Sabha on the symbol of Samajwadi Party.
