Mark Cannon (born 25 March 1961) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played for the North Sydney Bears and the St. George Dragons in the 1980s.

Rugby league career

A utility back, Cannon played his early rugby league in Lismore and was an Australian Schoolboys representative. [2]

From 1982 to 1985 he played for St. George, where he was used as a five-eighth. Most of his first-grade appearances came in his debut season but in 1983 he featured in St. George's minor preliminary final win over Balmain. [3]

While at St. George he played two seasons in England with Wigan and in the 1983-84 tournament helped Wigan reach its first Challenge Cup final since 1970, which they went on to lose to Widnes, with Cannon as five-eighth. [4]

In his final year with St. George in 1985 he was a member of the club's reserves premiership winning team. [5]

Cannon crossed to North Sydney in 1986 and was a regular fixture in the first-grade side for his first two seasons. In addition to five-eighth, he also played at North Sydney as centre, fullback and lock. He later served as a North Sydney assistant coach. [6]

O'Connor played club football in the NSWRL Premiership for the St. George Dragons from 1983 until 1986, and later the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles from 1987 until his retirement at the end of 1992, becoming captain of Manly in 1990, as well as winning the 1987 Winfield Cup with the Sea Eagles.

Jackson played club football in the Brisbane Rugby League for the Souths Magpies, before moving to the New South Wales Rugby League and playing for the Canberra Raiders, Brisbane Broncos and North Sydney Bears. He also played in the Rugby Football League for English club Leeds. Jackson worked in the media following his retirement in 1993, and died as the result of a drug overdose in 1997.

Brian Julian O'Neill is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. Primarily a goal-kicking fullback or five-eighth, during his 14-year top-grade career he played with several clubs in both Australia and England, which included two NSWRL premierships, a Challenge Cup victory as well as state and national representative honours. However O'Neill also regularly made headlines for his involvement in numerous controversial off-field incidents.

The 1994 NSWRL season was the eighty-seventh season of professional rugby league football in Australia. Sixteen clubs, including 14 from within the borders of New South Wales plus two from Queensland, competed for the J J Giltinan Shield during the season, which culminated in a grand final match for the Winfield Cup trophy between the Canberra Raiders and the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.
