Soul Coughing was an American alternative rock band composed of vocalist/guitarist Mike Doughty, keyboardist/sampler Mark Degli Antoni, bassist Sebastian Steinberg, and drummer Yuval Gabay. Soul Coughing developed a devout fanbase and garnered largely positive response from critics. Steve Huey of AllMusic describes the band as "one of the most unusual cult bands of the 1990s... driven by frontman Mike Doughty's stream-of-consciousness poetry. Soul Coughing's sound was a willfully idiosyncratic mix of improvisational jazz grooves, oddball samples, hip hop, electronics, and noisy experimentalism." The band's sound was described by Doughty as "deep slacker jazz."

Howard Leslie Shore is a Canadian composer and conductor noted for his film scores. Miho Hatori is a Japanese singer, songwriter, and musician. She was the vocalist of the New York City band Cibo Matto. She also worked in the virtual band Gorillaz as the first person to provide the voice of animated member Noodle.

The Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno Tour is a 2008–2009 promotional concert tour of music co-written by David Byrne and Brian Eno with performances by Byrne. In addition to being a retrospective of the duo's collaborations, the tour promoted the album Everything That Happens Will Happen Today. The musical performers were accompanied by dancers who were choreographed to several songs. Performances were held across the world and later documented on a tour EP and a concert film.
Forro in the Dark is a New York-based collective of Brazilian expatriates that formed in 2002. The group combines the musical style of forró, "the percussion-heavy, rhythmic dance music" of their native Brazil, with elements of rock, folk, jazz, and country.
Marie and Bruce is a 2004 American comedy drama film directed by Tom Cairns and starring Julianne Moore and Matthew Broderick. It was based on the 1978 play of the same name by Wallace Shawn, who also wrote the screenplay with Cairns, and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19, 2004. Although the film was well received and starred major motion picture stars, it failed to receive distribution.
Ride, Rise, Roar is a documentary film chronicling the Songs of David Byrne and Brian Eno Tour conducted by David Byrne in 2008–2009. The film includes concert footage, footage of the planning and rehearsals for the tour, and exclusive interviews with Byrne, Eno, and the supporting musicians and dancers.
