Mark Korir (born 10 January 1985) is a Kenyan long distance runner who specialises in the marathon. [1] He competed in the marathon event at the 2015 World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, China. [2]

He had previously won the Los Angeles Marathon in 2009 and 2010, the first back-to-back winner there in eight years. He took second place in the 2011 Chicago Marathon in a personal-record time of 2 hours 6 minutes 15 seconds, and improved that personal record by 2 seconds in the 2012 Chicago Marathon. In the 2013 Kenyan general election, Korir was elected to a seat in the National Assembly. He lost his seat in 2017.

Tsegaye Kebede won the men's race in a course record of 2:04:38 hours and Atsede Baysa was the women's winner in a personal best of 2:22:03. A total of 37455 runners finished the race.

The men and women's wheelchair races, were won by American Daniel Romanchuk (1:37:24) and Switzerland's Manuela Schär (1:44:20), respectively. A total of 53,508 runners finished the race, comprising 30,794 men and 22,714 women.

The 2021 New York City Marathon, the 50th running of that city's premier long-distance race, was held on November 7, 2021. Around 30,000 people ran in the event, of whom 25,020 finished. The race followed its traditional route, which passes through all five boroughs of New York City.

Sergio Reyes is an American track and long-distance runner and the 2010 American National Champion in the marathon distance. He represented the United States in the 2009 World Half Marathon Championships and the 2011 World Marathon Championships. In 2009, he placed 8th in the Chicago Marathon. Reyes also won dozens of other races, including five Cincinnati Marathons, the 2010 Twin Cities Marathon and the Vermont City Marathon in 2019 and 2022. In 2009, he finished 17th at the Boston Marathon on a windy day as Ryan Hall took third behind Daniel Rono and winner Deriba Merga. He returned in 2012 on a 80-degree day to finish 12th in 2:22:06 as Geoffrey Mutai dropped out and Wesley Korir won.

The men's marathon at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, as part of the athletics programme, was held in Victoria Square, Birmingham on 30 July 2022.

The 2022 London Marathon was the 42nd running of the annual London Marathon on 2 October 2022. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the race was postponed from April until October to maximise the chances of a mass participation event. The elite men's and women's event were won by Kenyan Amos Kipruto and Ethiopian Yalemzerf Yehualaw respectively. The wheelchair races were won by Swiss athletes Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner respectively, both in course record times. Over 40,000 people finished the mass participation event.

Judith Jeptum Korir is a Kenyan marathon runner.
