Marko Antila

Marko Antila (born 1969) is a Finnish film producer and director.

Antila studied in Tampere at the Art and Film School. Antila has directed dozens of music videos, and he moved into commercial business in 1998. Antila has won several national and international awards such as Cresta, Epica and Fab.

In 2004, Antila directed the TV series "Pelastakaa sotamies Hytönen". This reality show followed TV personality Joonas Hytönen during his mandatory military service in the Finnish armed forces. [1]

Marko Antila founded production company Mjölk together with Yrjö Nieminen. Antila produced the movie "8-pallo" (directed by Aku Louhimies). The movie premiered 22 February 2013. [2]

During spring 2015, Antila co-founded the storytelling company Lucy Loves Stories, where he now works as a producer. [3]

The Unknown Soldier or Unknown Soldiers is a war novel by Finnish author Väinö Linna, considered his magnum opus. Published in 1954, The Unknown Soldier chronicles the Continuation War between Finland and the Soviet Union during 1941–1944 from the viewpoint of ordinary Finnish soldiers. In 2000, the manuscript version of the novel was published with the title Sotaromaani and in 2015, the latest English translation as Unknown Soldiers. A fictional account based closely on Linna's own experiences during the war, the novel presented a more realistic outlook on the formerly romanticized image of a noble and obedient Finnish soldier. Linna gave his characters independent and critical thoughts, and presented them with human feelings, such as fear and rebellion.

The Unknown Soldier is a Finnish film directed by Edvin Laine that premiered in December 1955. It is based on The Unknown Soldier, a novel by Väinö Linna. The story is about the Continuation War between Finland and the Soviet Union as told from the viewpoint of ordinary Finnish soldiers. The film was and remains the most successful movie ever in Finland; about 2.8 million people, or more than half the Finnish population, saw it in theaters. Its portrayal of Linna's characters is widely accepted as canonical.

<i>The Unknown Soldier</i> (2017 film) 2017 war film by Aku Louhimies

The Unknown Soldier is a 2017 Finnish war drama independent film and the third adaption of the 1954 bestselling Finnish classic novel of the same name by Väinö Linna, a book considered part of national legacy. Directed by Aku Louhimies, it is the first one based on the novel's manuscript version, Sotaromaani. The previous two film adaptations were released in 1955 and 1985. The World War II film follows a machine gun company of the Finnish Army from a frog perspective during the Continuation War between Finland and the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1944. It was the most expensive Finnish motion picture at its release with a budget of 7 million euros.
