Marlon Atienza Pesebre (born September 29,1971) is a Filipino politician currently serving as councilor of Pasay's first district since 2019,and previously from 2001 until 2010. He became the city's vice mayor for two terms.
Pesebre was born in Pasay City City to Engracio Pesebre and Remedios Atienza.
He graduated primary at Malate Catholic School in Manila on 1984 and secondary in the same school on 1988. In 1992,he received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of the East in Manila. He also studied law at San Beda College of Law for only two years. [1]
Pesebre started his political career when he ran as councilor in 1998 under LAMMP,but he lost. He ran again in 2001 under Lakas–CMD and won. He was re-elected in 2004 and 2007.[ citation needed ]
In April 2002,the Pasay City Council ordered the suspension of fuel depot construction in the city. According to Pesebre,"without the permit,the Joint Oil Companies Aviation Storage Plant (JOCASP) [had] begun clearing the area in preparation for the construction". [2]
In May 2008,the city government of Pasay declared the reclamation area as special investment zone of the city. Pesebre said,"For purposes of autonomy,the special investment zone shall not be subject of territorial jurisdiction of any barangay or any barangay policy,rules and regulations,resolutions or ordinances,the same being directly governed by the city government". [3]
In 2010,he ran as vice mayor under Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino with former Representative Ma. Consuelo Dy as his running-mate. He won,but his running-mate lost in a tight election to then-Vice Mayor Antonino Calixto. [4] He was re-elected in 2013.
In 2016,he joined a fun run held at SM Mall of Asia,according to a news. [5]
In 2016,he ran for re-election but lost to Pasay's BPLO Secretary Noel Del Rosario. [6]
Three years after,he sought city council comeback independently and he won. [7] He ran for re-election in 2022,joining the administration's slate,Team Calixto,and he won. [8] [9] [10]
