Marnix ten Kortenaar (born 19 August 1970) is an Austrian speed skater. He competed in three events at the 1998 Winter Olympics. [1]

The 1984 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XIV Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Sarajevo '84, were a winter multi-sport event held between 8 and 19 February 1984 in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. It was the first Winter Olympic Games held in a Slavic language-speaking country, as well as the only Winter Olympics held in a communist country before the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. The 1952 Winter Olympics, officially known as the VI Olympic Winter Games, took place in Oslo, Norway, from 14 to 25 February 1952. A total of 694 athletes representing 30 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) participated in the Games, taking part in 22 events from 6 sports.

At the 1924 Winter Olympics in Chamonix, five speed skating events were contested, all for men. The competitions were held on Saturday, January 26, 1924, and on Sunday, January 27, 1924. Charles Jewtraw won the first gold medal of the 1924 Winter Games, and Clas Thunberg and Roald Larsen each won medals in all five events, with Thunberg winning 3 gold.

At the 1956 Winter Olympics, four speed skating events were contested. This was the last edition in which only men participated. The competitions were held from Saturday, 28 January, to Tuesday, 31 January 1956.

Wang won gold in the 500 m event, silver in the 1000 m and bronze in the 1500 m event at the 2006 Winter Olympics. Helena Pilejczyk was a Polish speed skater. Pilejczyk was the Olympic bronze medal winner in the 1,500 m in Squaw Valley (1960). Her first appearance at the Polish national Championships speed skating was in 1953, while the last time she could be seen skating internationally was during the masters games of 2002, where she competed in the category for female skaters 70 years and above. She achieved 40 Polish skating records and won 37 Polish titles for distance, allround and relay race events. Pilejczyk died in Elbląg on 12 November 2023, at the age of 92.
