Marquette University Radio (MUR) is the student-run College radio station for Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States.
Marquette Radio broadcasts on campus via Cable radio channel 96 and to the world through the live stream online. Marquette Radio is open to all current Marquette University students and offers diverse programming including talk, sports, news and music intensive shows. Students from all fields are invited to practice their skills in production, announcing, public relations, advertising sales, and record company relations.
Beginning October 1, 2013, the station released a new logo and officially dropped the call letters WMUR to distance itself from terrestrial broadcasting. Since 2013, Marquette Radio has been part of Marquette Student Media, known online as the "Marquette Wire." [1]
Marquette University is a private Jesuit research university in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Established by the Society of Jesus as Marquette College on August 28, 1881, it was founded by John Martin Henni, the first Bishop of the diocese of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Initially an all-male institution, Marquette became the first coeducational Catholic university in the world in 1909.
WVUR-FM, The Source 95 is the student-run college radio station of Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana. It broadcasts at 95.1 MHz FM and streams online at WVUR's website. The station features a range of students, staff, members of the public, and faculty members who contribute to the station. Each semester some students participate with The Source on a regular basis, making it one of the largest organizations on campus. The Source plays a wide variety of music including rock, alternative, jazz, punk, and indie. Many students have specialty shows in which they play their own mix in addition to the regular automated rotation. WVUR Sports is an integral part of the station. Hundreds of VU Athletics games are broadcast each year on the air and online. The Evening Source also exists, providing the area with news at five pm.
WJOI is a commercial radio station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is known on-air as "Joy 1340/98.7". WJOI is owned by Saga Communications, and operates as part of its Milwaukee Radio Group, with radio studios and offices on Milwaukee's West Side. The transmitter is on West Martin Drive in Milwaukee. Programming is also heard on 99-watt FM translator W254CU at 98.7 MHz.
