Martijn Barto (born 23 August 1984) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a striker for Blauw Wit '34 in the Eerste Klasse.
He formerly played professional football for RKC Waalwijk and Helmond Sport. After he had played four years for amateur side Harkemase Boys, he returned in professional football in July 2011, when he signed a two-year deal with SC Cambuur. [1] Barto won the Eerste Divisie title with the club in May 2013 and thus returned to the Eredivisie after having played there eight years earlier. In May 2016, he suffered relegation with Cambuur from the Eredivisie.
In the 2018–19 season he went to play for ONS Sneek in the Derde Divisie. [2] Ahead of the 2019–20 season, he moved to CVV Blauw Wit '34 in the Eerste Klasse. [3]
As of 1 January 2019, Barto worked as a part-time coach at the youth academy and he is involved in commercial and social affairs within SC Cambuur. [4]
Before the 2019–20 season, as a player of CVV Blauw Wit '34, he would also be active as an assistant coach of the first team. [2] Additionally, he joined the Cambuur first-team staff, where he would work part-time as a striker coach in addition to his part-time work in the youth academy and the commercial department. [5]
Cambuur
SC Cambuur, also known as Cambuur Leeuwarden, or simply Cambuur, is a Dutch professional football club from the city of Leeuwarden formed on 19 June 1964. They currently play in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football, following relegation from the Eredivisie in the 2022–23 season. The home ground of the club is the 15,000-capacity Kooi Stadion, which opened in 2024. The club usually plays in yellow shirts and blue shorts. The origin of the club's emblem is the coat of arms of the House of Cammingha, a Frisian noble family. Their main rivals are SC Heerenveen.
Sportclub Veendam was a Dutch professional association football club based in Veendam, province of Groningen. Founded on 4 September 1894 as Look-Out, it became P.J. Veendam in 1909, Veendam in 1910, SC Veendam in 1974, BV Veendam in 1997 and again SC Veendam in 2011. The club was a founder member of the regional first tier Eerste Klasse Noord in 1916 and became champions of the division in 1931–32; it qualified for the national championship play-offs but finished in bottom place. Veendam took part in the inaugural season of the third tier Tweede Divisie in 1956–57; after yo-yoing between the third and second tiers, the team won promotion to the first tier Eredivisie for the first time in 1985–86. As a player, he had notable spells as a forward in his native Netherlands with Excelsior, Cambuur and TOP Oss.
