It maintains a network of 229 diplomatic missions abroad and holds relations with more than 190 countries. As one of the world's leading industrialized countries it is recognized as a major power in European and global affairs.
The American Institute in Taiwan is the de facto Embassy of the United States of America in Taiwan. The AIT institution is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the federal government of the United States in Taiwan with Congressional oversight. The AIT was officially created as a U.S. government-sponsored non-profit,private corporation established under the auspices of the U.S. government to serve its interests in Taiwan. Primarily staffed by employees of the United States Department of State and local workers,the AIT provides consular services normally offered by United States diplomatic missions,with the Great Seal of the State Department hung at AIT's main office in Taipei. The establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1979 required acknowledgment of the "one-China policy" and subsequent termination of diplomatic relations with the Republic of China (Taiwan). The AIT now serves to assist and protect U.S. interests in Taiwan in a quasi-official manner,and also processes US visas and provides consular services to U.S. expatriates. Following the swift passage of the 2018 Taiwan Travel Act by the United States,it now serves as a high-level representative bureau on behalf of United States in Taiwan. It receives full protection from the United States Marine Corps as do all US embassies.
The Federal Foreign Office,abbreviated AA,is the foreign ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany,a federal agency responsible for both the country's foreign policy and its relationship with the European Union. It is a cabinet-level ministry. Since December 2021,Annalena Baerbock has served as Foreign Minister,succeeding Heiko Maas. The primary seat of the ministry is at the Werderscher Markt square in the Mitte district,the historic centre of Berlin.

Cho Jung-tai is a Taiwanese politician. He served on the Taipei City Council from 1990 to 1998,when he was first elected to the Legislative Yuan. Cho remained a legislator through 2004,when he was appointed deputy secretary-general to the president during the Chen Shui-bian administration. During Frank Hsieh's 2008 presidential bid,Cho assumed the post of Secretary-General of the Democratic Progressive Party. He returned to public service in 2017,as secretary-general of the Executive Yuan under Premier William Lai. In 2019,Cho succeeded Tsai Ing-wen as leader of the Democratic Progressive Party. He remained leader of the party until May 2020,when Tsai resumed the role.
The German Institute Taipei;is the overseas representative office of Germany in Taiwan,which promotes the non-diplomatic German-Taiwanese relations and looks after German interests there. Tasks of the institution includes the increasing of bilateral cooperation,dealing with consular affairs like Visa or passport,providing a variety of services for German citizens in Taiwan and German-related information to Taiwanese people. In some instances,it maintains contacts with Taiwanese government on behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany,acting as a de facto embassy. Institute affairs are led by a Director General,who acts as the German representative to Taiwan.
Kin Wah Moy(born 1966) is an American diplomat and holds the diplomatic rank of Career Minister. He is the first Chinese-American to hold the post as Director of the American Institute in Taiwan. Having served in the Department of State and several diplomatic outposts,he began his tenure as the director of the American Institute in Taiwan,the de facto embassy of the United States in Taiwan,in June 2015.

Wu Mi-cha is a Taiwanese historian. He was the vice chairman of the Council for Cultural Affairs from 2001 to 2004,after which he became director of the National Museum of Taiwan History. In May 2016,Wu was appointed head of Academia Historica,serving until February 2019,when he was named Director of the National Palace Museum. He stepped down from the NPM in January 2023.

Birgitt Ory is a German diplomat. From 2019 till 2022 she has served as the German Ambassador to Nigeria. Ory was the first woman to serve as Director General of the German Institute Taipei in Taiwan,a post she held from 2008 to 2011.
