Martin Lane (born 10 October 1985 [2] ) is a retired flat racing jockey from Ireland. He now lives and works in Fiji. [3]
Lane was born in Kilworth, County Cork. After riding in Ireland, Lane moved to the United Kingdom and rode primarily for Newmarket based trainer David Simcock. In 2010, he secured 41 wins on his way to the British Champion Apprentice title. Notably, taking victory in the John Smith's Cup at York. [4]
It would not be until 2013 that Lane scored another notable big race win, this time with the Tattersalls Millions 2YO Fillies' Trophy at Newmarket, riding Wedding Ring in the colours of Godolphin. [5] In 2014, with Simcock, Lane would team up with Sheikhzayedroad and owned Mohammed Jaber. Scoring notable wins during the 2014 season including the Fred Archer Stakes and York Stakes before heading to Canada and taking victory in the 2014 Grade I Northern Dancer Turf Stakes at Woodbine. Lane announced his retirement following a meeting at Chelmsford City Racecourse in December 2017. He had just ridden a winner for Godolphin at the track. Following his retirement, Lane moved to Fiji to work in an operations manager role for a resort. [10] [11]
Kieren Francis Fallon is a retired Irish professional flat racing jockey and was British Champion Jockey six times.
Johnny Murtagh is an Irish flat racing trainer and former jockey from Bohermeen, near Navan, Kells, County Meath. As a jockey he won many of the major flat races in Europe, including all the Irish Classics, all the Group 1 Races at Royal Ascot, The Derby, the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes and Europe's biggest race the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. He was also Irish flat racing Champion Jockey five times. As a trainer, based at stables near Kildare, he has saddled a winner at Royal Ascot and an Irish Classic winner.
Godolphin is the Maktoum family's private Thoroughbred horseracing stable and was named in honour of the Godolphin Arabian, who came from the desert to become one of the three founding stallions of the modern Thoroughbred. Godolphin is buried at Wandlebury Park in Cambridge, where there is a stone to commemorate this horse in the passageway of the old buildings.
Fantastic Light is a retired Thoroughbred racehorse and pensioned sire. He was foaled in the United States but was trained in England and Dubai during his racing career, which ran from August 1998 to his retirement following the Breeders' Cup Turf in October 2001. He raced in seven countries, winning Group One/Grade I races in five of them and was a dual winner of the Emirates World Series Racing Championship. He was named United States Champion Male Turf Horse, European Horse of the Year and European Champion Older Horse in 2001. He was also well known for his two races against the 2001 Epsom Derby winner Galileo. In August 2012 it was announced that he had been pensioned from stallion duty while in Japan and would return to Dalham Hall in England to live out his days as a pensioner.

William Buick is a British-Norwegian flat jockey. He shared the champion apprentice jockey title in 2008 with David Probert and won the Lester Award for Apprentice Jockey of the Year in 2007 and 2008. From 2010 to 2014 he was stable jockey to John Gosden. In 2015 he signed with Godolphin. Buick won his first Group1 race in Canada in 2010 and since then has won Group 1 races in England, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and the United States. He has won four British Classic Races: the St Leger in 2010, 2011 and 2021 and the Derby in 2018.
Storming Home is a retired, British-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and active sire who was trained in the United Kingdom and the United States during a racing career which ran from 2000 to 2003. He won five important races, but is probably best known for his disqualification in the 2003 Arlington Million.
Tobougg (1998–2018) was a thoroughbred racehorse and sire, who was bred in Ireland, but trained in England and Dubai during a racing career which lasted from 2000 to 2002. He was named European Champion Two-Year-Old Colt for 2000 at the Cartier Racing Awards. He was unbeaten in three starts in his championship season including two Group One races, the Prix de la Salamandre in France and the Dewhurst Stakes in England. He never won another race although he was placed in The Derby, the Champion Stakes and the Hong Kong Cup. He had some success as a breeding stallion and broodmare sire although he sired few major race winners.
Classic Cliche, is a retired Thoroughbred racehorse and active sire who was bred in Ireland and trained in Britain and the United Arab Emirates. In a career which lasted from August 1994 until September 1997, he ran sixteen times and won six races. He recorded his most important success when winning the Classic St. Leger Stakes as a three-year-old in 1995, the same year in which he won the Dante Stakes. In the following season he became the first Classic winner in fifty years to win the Ascot Gold Cup.
Joseph Patrick O'Brien is an Irish horse racing trainer and former flat racing jockey. He is the son of trainer Aidan O'Brien. In 2012 he rode Camelot to win the 2,000 Guineas, the 2012 Epsom Derby and the Irish Derby.
Richard Fahey is a racehorse trainer, based in Malton, North Yorkshire. He has saddled over 30 Group races winners in the UK, Ireland, France and Canada. Group 1 winners include Sands Of Mali in the 2018 British Champions Sprint Stakes and Ribchester in the 2017 Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot. Garswood in the 2014 Prix Maurice de Gheest, Mayson in the 2012 Group 1 July Cup at Newmarket and Wootton Bassett in the 2010 Group 1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère at Longchamp. In 2015 Fahey equalled the record for the most calendar wins with 235. He ended 2017 with prize money of over £4.2m and 2018 he finished the season with 190 winners. He has trained over 3,000 winners both over the jumps and on the flat.
Australia is an Irish-bred, Thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning the 2014 Epsom Derby. As a two-year-old in 2013, he won two of his three races, creating a very favourable impression when winning the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Trial Stakes, and was highly regarded by his trainer Aidan O'Brien. In May 2014 he finished third behind Night of Thunder and Kingman in the 2000 Guineas before winning the Epsom Derby on 7 June. He subsequently won the Irish Derby and International Stakes before being defeated by The Grey Gatsby in the Irish Champion Stakes. His racing career was ended by injury in October 2014. He is standing at Coolmore stud.
James Doyle is a flat racing jockey. He is the son of former trainer Jacqueline Doyle. Since 2014, he has been one of the retained riders to Godolphin Racing in the UK, mainly riding horses trained by Charlie Appleby.
Hawkbill is an American-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. During his racing career he competed in England, Ireland, France, Germany, Canada and Dubai. In 2015 he was beaten on his first two appearances but then recorded three consecutive wins in minor races. As a three-year-old in 2016 he made rapid progress, taking his winning run to six with victories in the Newmarket Stakes, Tercentenary Stakes and Eclipse Stakes. As a four-year-old he won the Aston Park Stakes and Princess of Wales's Stakes and was placed in the Coronation Cup, Grosser Preis von Berlin and Northern Dancer Turf Stakes. He began his fourth season by winning the Dubai City of Gold and followed up by recording his most valuable success when he took the Dubai Sheema Classic.
Blue Point, is an Irish-bred, British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. He was one of the best British-trained two-year-olds of 2016 when he won the Gimcrack Stakes and was placed in the Richmond Stakes, Middle Park Stakes and Dewhurst Stakes. In the following year he developed into a high class sprint horse, taking the Pavilion Stakes and Bengough Stakes as well as running third in the Commonwealth Cup. As a four-year-old in 2018 he recorded his first Group 1 success in the King's Stand Stakes. In 2019 he won three races in Dubai including the Al Quoz Sprint before recording a double at Royal Ascot, taking the King's Stand Stakes for the second time and winning the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.
Modern Games is an Irish-bred British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. He was one of the best two-year-olds in the world in 2021 when he won four of his six races including the Somerville Tattersall Stakes in England and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf in the United States. As a three-year-old he was victorious in the Group 1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains and Grade I Woodbine Mile.

Nations Pride is a multiple Graded stakes race winning Irish-bred British-trained Thoroughbred racehorse. As a three-year-old in 2022 he was victorious in three different countries, United Arab Emirates, Great Britain and United States. In the United States, Nations Pride captured two legs of the New York Racing Association Turf Trinity, the Grade I Saratoga Derby and the Grade III Jockey Club Derby Invitational Stakes and was second in the Grade I Belmont Derby.
Royston Ffrench is a professional flat jockey. He was the 1997 British Champion Apprentice Jockey and has won multiple Grade 1 races in Europe and the Middle East.
