Federica Mogherini, former High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, was appointed as the Rector to start in September 2020; former President of the European Council Herman, Count Van Rompuy is chairman of the board.

From March 2017 to July 2018 she held the position of Vice-Governor of the Central Bank of Montenegro.
