Mary-Pat Green is an American film, television, and theatre actress. She died from Alzheimer's disease shortly before her 73rd birthday on September 9, 2024. Her friends confirmed her death on Facebook.
She is best known for playing Odessa on the television series Any Day Now . She has appeared as a guest star on many television series, including Saving Grace , Eli Stone , My Name Is Earl , Home Improvement , NYPD Blue , Married... with Children , Melrose Place , The Drew Carey Show , Step by Step , Murder, She Wrote , Friends , Millennium , Buffy the Vampire Slayer , Ally McBeal , Six Feet Under , The West Wing , Desperate Housewives , Cold Case , The Middle , Anger Management , Mom , and others.
Green has appeared on Broadway in the original cast of Sweeney Todd and the 1974 revival of Candide . [1] She has performed the role of Reverend Mother in Nunsense over 1500 times and in 2002 she played Lorena Hickok in Michael John LaChiusa's musical First Lady Suite .
In 1989, Green took over the role of Miss Hannigan in a production of Annie at the Starlight Theatre in Kansas City. [2]
In 1996, she played the title role in the premiere of Claudia Allen's Hannah Free at Victory Gardens Theatre in Chicago. Richard Christiansen of Chicago Tribune wrote her role was "admirably acted". [3]

Mary Beth Peil is an American actress and soprano. She began her career as an opera singer in 1962 with the Goldovsky Opera Theater. In 1964 she won two major singing competitions, the Young Concert Artists International Auditions and the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions; the latter of which earned her a contract with the Metropolitan Opera National Company with whom she performed in two seasons of national tours as a leading soprano from 1965 to 1967. She continued to perform in operas through the 1970s, notably creating the role of Alma in the world premiere of Lee Hoiby's Summer and Smoke at the Minnesota Opera in 1971. She later recorded that role for American television in 1982. With that same opera company she transitioned into musical theatre, performing the title role of Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate in 1983.
