Harvard Kennedy School (HKS),officially the John F. Kennedy School of Government,is the school of public policy and government of Harvard University in Cambridge,Massachusetts. The school offers master's degrees in public policy,public administration,and international development,four doctoral degrees,and many executive education programs. It conducts research in subjects relating to politics,government,international affairs,and economics. As of 2021,HKS had an endowment of $1.7 billion. It is a member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA),a global consortium of schools that trains leaders in international affairs.
Joseph Samuel Nye Jr. is an American political scientist. He and Robert Keohane co-founded the international relations theory of neoliberalism,which they developed in their 1977 book Power and Interdependence. Together with Keohane,he developed the concepts of asymmetrical and complex interdependence. They also explored transnational relations and world politics in an edited volume in the 1970s. More recently,he pioneered the theory of soft power and explained the distinction between it and hard power. His notion of "smart power" became popular with the use of this phrase by members of the Clinton Administration and the Obama Administration.
Donald Kennedy was an American scientist,public administrator,and academic. He served as Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (1977–1979),President of Stanford University (1980–1992),and Editor-in-Chief of Science (2000–2008). Following this,he was named president emeritus of Stanford University;Bing Professor of Environmental Science and Policy,emeritus;and senior fellow of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies.
Graham Tillett Allison Jr. is an American political scientist and the Douglas Dillon Professor of Government at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He is renowned for his contribution in the late 1960s and early 1970s to the bureaucratic analysis of decision making,especially during times of crisis. His book Remaking Foreign Policy:The Organizational Connection,co-written with Peter Szanton,was published in 1976 and had some influence on the foreign policy of the administration of President Jimmy Carter who took office in early 1977. Since the 1970s,Allison has also been a leading analyst of U.S. national security and defense policy,with a special interest in nuclear weapons and terrorism.
The Center for Public Leadership (CPL) is an academic research center at Harvard University that provides teaching,research and training in the practical skills of leadership for people in government,nonprofits,and business. Located at Harvard Kennedy School,CPL was established in 2000 through a gift from the Wexner Foundation.

The Hamilton Project is an economic policy initiative within the Brookings Institution. It was originally launched in April 2006 by a combination of public policy makers,business people,academic leaders,and other former Clinton administration economists and experts. The Hamilton Project "seeks to advance America’s promise of opportunity,prosperity,and growth." It went dormant after U.S. President Barack Obama assumed office in 2009,because many of its members left to work for the White House,but in 2010,it was relaunched with Michael Greenstone as the new director.

At Harvard,her titles include Professor of Public Policy and Management,Professor of Psychology,Faculty Director in the Graduate Commons Program,co-founder of the Harvard Decision Science Laboratory and co-director of the Harvard Faculty Group on Emotion,Decision Making,and Health. Her research interests include the effects of accountability on judgment and choice. She founded and directs the Leadership Decision Making program within Harvard Kennedy School's executive education program.

David J. Deming is an American economist and Professor of Public Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School,Professor of Education and Economics at the Harvard Graduate School of Education,Director of the Malcolm Wiener Center for Social Policy,His research focuses on the economics of education in general and the impact of education policies on long-run non-test score outcomes. In 2018,David Deming received the David N. Kershaw Award and Prize from the Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management for his work in the areas of secondary education,vocational training and skills.
