The politics of Zimbabwe occurs in a society deeply divided along lines of race, ethnicity, gender and geography. The ZANU–PF party has historically been dominant in Zimbabwe politics. The party, which was led by Robert Mugabe from 1980 to 2017, has used the powers of the state to intimidate, imprison and otherwise hobble political opposition in Zimbabwe, as well as use state funds and state media to advance the interests of the party.
Masvingo, previously named Victoria, is a province in southeastern Zimbabwe. It has a population of 1.485 million as of the 2012 census, ranking fifth out of Zimbabwe's ten provinces. Established by the British South Africa Company, it was one of the five original provinces of Southern Rhodesia. In 1982, two years after Zimbabwean independence, it was renamed Masvingo Province. The province is divided into seven districts, including Masvingo District, which contains the provincial capital Masvingo City.
Mutare West is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Manicaland Province. Its current MP since the 2023 general election is Nyasha Marange of ZANU–PF.
Mwenezi, originally known as Nuanetsi, is a small district situated in southern Zimbabwe. It is bisected by the Mwenezi River and the A4 highway, the main thoroughfare that connects the town of Beitbridge, on the border with South Africa, to Masvingo.
Masvingo, originally Victoria, encampases metropolitan Masvingo, in Masvingo Province in southern Zimbabwe. The district boasts of the Great Zimbabwe National Monument among its list of tourist attractions. Lake Kyle is also nearby. The people in the district are mostly rural, communal farmers. Mushandike Co-op. is found in the district, in which the villagers use the water from Tokwe River to irrigate their patches of land. Ngomahuru Hospital which is the second largest Psychiatric hospital in the country is also located.
Mutare Central is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Mutare in Manicaland Province. Its current MP since the 2023 general election is Brian James of the Citizens Coalition for Change, the former mayor of Mutare. The constituency was previously represented between 2000 and 2023 by Innocent Gonese.
Gutu North was a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Gutu District in Masvingo Province. It was abolished ahead of the 2023 general election.
Chitungwiza North is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Harare Province. It covers part of Chitungwiza, a dormitory city of Harare. Its current MP since the 2013 election is Godfrey Sithole of the Citizens Coalition for Change.
Bulawayo East was a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Bulawayo. It was dissolved in the delimitation process prior to the 2023 election. Its most recent MP, elected in the 2018 election, was Ilos Nyoni of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance. Bulawayo East was also a constituency of the Parliament of Rhodesia between 1939 and 1979.
Emakhandeni–Entumbane was a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe between 2008 and 2023. Located in Bulawayo, it was most recently represented by Dingilizwe Tshuma of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance.
Lobengula was a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe between 2008 and 2023. It was most recently represented by Gift Banda of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance.
Masvingo South is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Masvingo District in Masvingo Province. Created for the 1985 election, its inaugural member, Eddison Zvobgo of ZANU–PF, held the seat for 19 years until his death in 2004. The current MP since the 2023 election is Tanatsiwa Mukomberi of ZANU–PF.
Pelandaba–Mpopoma was a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe. Located in the city of Bulawayo in eastern Zimbabwe, it comprised the high-density suburbs of Imiyela, Mabutweni, Matshobana, Mpopoma, Mpopoma South, and Pelandaba. Its most recent MP following the 2018 election was Charles Moyo of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance.
Masvingo Central is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Masvingo District in Masvingo Province. Its current MP since the 2023 election is Eddison Mudiwa Zvobgo of ZANU–PF. Previously, the constituency was represented Edmond Mhere of ZANU–PF following the 2018 election.
Gweru Urban is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Gweru, Midlands Province. Its current MP since the 2023 election is Josiah Makombe of the Citizens Coalition for Change.
Glen View South is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, comprising the southern portion of the Glen View suburb of Harare. It was created in 2008 from the old Glen View constituency, along with Glen View North.
Beitbridge West is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Beitbridge District in Matabeleland South Province. It is currently represented since a December 2023 by-election by Thusani Ndou of ZANU–PF.
Mangwe is a constituency represented in the National Assembly of the Parliament of Zimbabwe, located in Mangwe District in Matabeleland South Province. It is currently represented since the 2023 election by Vincent Sihlabo of ZANU–PF.
