Major League Soccer (MLS) is a men's professional soccer league sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, which represents the sport's highest level in the United States. The league comprises 29 teams—26 in the United States and 3 in Canada—since the 2023 season. The league is headquartered in Midtown Manhattan.
The Mexican Football Federation is the governing body of association football in Mexico. It administers the Mexico national team, the Liga MX and all affiliated amateur sectors, and controls promoting, organizing, directing, expanding, and supervising competitive football in Mexico.

An infringement is classified as a foul when it meets all the following conditions:
- It is committed by a player ;
- It occurs on the field of play;
- It occurs while the ball is in play;
- It is committed against an opponent.
