Long Beach Polytechnic High School, founded in 1895 as Long Beach High School, is a four-year public high school located at 1600 Atlantic Avenue in Long Beach, California, United States. John Earl Madden was an American football coach and sports commentator in the National Football League (NFL). He served as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders from 1969 to 1978, leading them to eight playoff appearances, seven division titles, seven AFL/AFC Championship Game appearances, and the franchise's first Super Bowl title in Super Bowl XI. Madden, who never had a losing season, holds the highest winning percentage among NFL head coaches.
Charles Ernest Whistler "Christopher" Mackintosh was a Scottish rugby union internationalist, athlete, skier and bobsledder who competed in the 1920s and 1930s. He won a gold medal in the four-man bobsleigh event at the 1938 FIBT World Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Mackintosh also became Chairman of the Henry Lunn Alpine Tours company and President of both the Downhill Only Ski Club Wengen (1958-1964) and the Amateur Inter-Ski Club, the Kandahar Ski Club.
Manuel Fernando Gonilho Matias is a retired long-distance runner from Portugal, who won the 1989 edition of the Fukuoka Marathon, clocking 2:12:54 on 3 December 1989. A year earlier he triumphed in the Paris Marathon. Matias represented his native country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, finishing in 46th place (2:20:58).

Reynaldo Brown is an American track and field athlete, known for the high jump. He competed in the 1968 Summer Olympics at the beginning of his senior year in high school, finishing fifth. His participation in that transitional event had him witnessing teammate Dick Fosbury winning the gold medal using the Fosbury Flop, leaving Brown as one of the last successful jumpers to use the straddle technique.

It appears in this form in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Alternate spellings are: Mathias, Mattias, Mattis, Mats and Matti. Matias was the same day by the Finnish-Swedish name day calendar until 1989, when it was replaced by Mattias forms and Mats. In Finland, by the end of 2009 the name has been given to about 73,160 people. In the form of Mattias to 3,683 people, in the form of Matthias to little more than 440, and in the form of Mathias a little less than 3,000.
Mark Robert Conover was an American long distance runner and coach. He was born in Contra Costa County, California. He is most famous for his unexpected strategic victory at the 1988 United States Olympic Trials marathon, qualifying him for the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, where he was a member of the U.S. Team. The winning time of 2:12:26 at the Olympic trials was his personal best.
Gilbert Ronald Larrieu, known as Ron Larrieu, was an American long-distance runner. He competed in the men's 10,000 metres at the 1964 Summer Olympics. He was the older brother of American five-time Olympian Francie Larrieu.
