Matthew Quinn Johnson (born September 9, 1992) is an American football coach and former quarterback, who is currently the quarterbacks coach for San Diego State. He played college football for the Bowling Green Falcons.
Johnson attended Harrisburg (PA) Bishop McDevitt in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. As a senior, he passed for 2,975 yards with 26 touchdown passes. [1] Throughout his high school career Johnson was rated as a three-star recruit and was offered by Temple, Miami (OH) and Bowling Green. On July 9, 2010, Johnson committed to Bowling Green. [2] He was recruited by Warren Ruggiero. Johnson went 39-5 as Bishop McDevitt's starting quarterback. He still ranks among PIAA football records for all-time passing yards (7,994) and touchdown passes (85). [3]
As a redshirt Freshman for the Bowling Green Falcons in 2012, he was a backup quarterback behind Matt Schilz. He appeared in eight games and made his collegiate debut on September 1 against Florida. He threw his first collegiate touchdown against Rhode Island on September 29.
In 2013, Johnson competed to open the season as the starting quarterback. [4] Shilz started the first game, but Johnson was inserted into the game for the beginning of the third drive in the season-opener against Tulsa, leading the Falcons to victory. Johnson defeated Kent State in his first collegiate start the following week. Johnson completed 19 of 25 passes for 357 yards and two touchdowns. In the MAC Championship Game against undefeated and nationally ranked Northern Illinois, Johnson threw for a career high 393 yards and five touchdowns. He was named the games Most Valuable Player. On the season, Johnson was named MAC East Division Offensive Player of the Week three times. [5]
In week 1 against Western Kentucky, Johnson suffered a broken hip. He finished the game completing 25 passes for 314 yards and one touchdown. [6]
In his season debut, Johnson threw for 424 yards and two touchdowns against Tennessee in a 30-59 defeat where he was named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week. In week 2, Johnson led the Falcons to a 48-27 victory over Maryland. Johnson completed 36 of 55 passing attempts for a career high 491 yards (2nd in school history) and six touchdowns (T-1st school history), earning him the MAC East Offensive Player of the Week award for the second consecutive week. He was subsequently named Davey O'Brien quarterback of the week, Maxwell Football Club National Player of the week, Manning Award Star of the Week and honored as CFPA National Performer of the week. In week three, he passed for 443 yards and four touchdowns in a loss to the Memphis. The next week against Purdue, Johnson threw for his fourth straight 400-yard performance with 402 yards and a career high 43 completions on 59 attempts and one touchdown in a 35-28 upset victory. His performance earned him MAC East Offensive Player of the Week and Manning Award Star of the Week. After a victory against Buffalo, Johnson went on a three game stretch where he threw five touchdowns in each game against Massachusetts,Akron and Kent State. He won MAC East Player of the Week all three weeks. In week 10, Johnson threw three touchdown passes in a MAC East-clinching win at Western Michigan. In the MAC Championship Game he led the Falcons to a 34-14 victory against Northern Illinois. In his last game as a Falcon, he had three passing touchdowns in the GoDaddy Bowl against Georgia Southern. Johnson was named MAC Offensive Player of the Year and named First Team All-MAC. He was honored as the MAC's Vern Smith Leadership award recipient. He also earned the prestigious Sammy Baugh Award announced by Touchdown Club of Columbus. Johnson was named MAC East Offensive Player of the Week six times and passed for a school and MAC record 4,946 yards and 46 touchdowns. [7] He was named honorable mention All-America by Sports Illustrated and a semifinalist for Davey O'Brien Award. [8] He finished his career with 8,846 passing yards which ranks third in school history and a school-record 73 touchdown passes. On January 23, 2016, he played in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. [9]

On May 5, 2016, Johnson signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals. [11] He was released on May 16, 2015. [12]
On April 26, 2017, Johnson signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. [13] He was released on June 12, 2017. [14]
In 2016, Johnson was the Quarterbacks coach for his alma mater. [15] He coached former Wake Forest Demon Deacons commit Tayvon Bowers and appeared on QB1: Beyond the Lights. [16]
In 2017, Johnson reunited with his former collegiate coach Dino Babers and became the offensive quality control assistant at Syracuse. He also joined former BGSU assistants Kim McCloud and Sean Lewis. [17]
In January 2018, Johnson joined Kent State as the offensive quality control coach with a focus on offense and quarterbacks under head coach Sean Lewis. He was promoted to running back coach prior to the 2020 spring season. [18] In 2023, Johnson was promoted again to offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach under new Kent State head coach Kenni Burns. [19]
On December 5, 2023 Johnson was named the quarterbacks coach of the San Diego State Aztecs. [20] Johnson is reunited with Lewis after spending six season together between Syracuse and Kent State.

The Bowling Green Falcons are the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Bowling Green State University (BGSU), in Bowling Green, Ohio, United States. The Falcons compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level as a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) East Division. The men's ice hockey team competes in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA); and men's soccer competes in the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC), following the MAC shutting down its men's soccer league at the end of the 2022 season. Bowling Green sponsors teams in seven men's and 11 women's NCAA-sanctioned sports and the football team competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest level for college football. BGSU is one of only 15 universities in the United States that plays Division I FBS football and Division I men's ice hockey.
The Bowling Green Falcons football program is the intercollegiate football team of Bowling Green State University. The team is a member of the NCAA, playing at the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, formerly Division I-A, level; BGSU football competes within the Mid-American Conference in the East Division. The Falcons have played their home games in Doyt Perry Stadium since 1966. The stadium holds 24,000 spectators. In their 93-year history, the Falcons have won 12 MAC championships and a UPI national championship in 1959. The head coach is Scot Loeffler.

They finished the season 6–6, 4–4 in MAC play to finish in a tie for second place in the East Division. Despite being bowl eligible, they were not selected to participate in a bowl game.

They were led by first-year head coach Dave Clawson and played in the East Division of the Mid-American Conference. They played their home games at Doyt Perry Stadium. They finished the season 7–6, 6–2 in MAC play to finish in third place in the East Division. They were invited to the Humanitarian Bowl where they lost to Idaho.
Tyler Allen Sheehan is a former American football quarterback. Sheehan played collegiately at Bowling Green State University after a standout career at La Salle High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. After going undrafted in the 2010 NFL Draft, he signed with Houston Texans, where he was released after training camp. In 2011, he signed with the Cincinnati Commandos of the Continental Indoor Football League. Sheehan led the Commandos to a perfect 10–0 regular season, winning the league's MVP award. In the playoffs, Sheehan led the Commandos to the 2011 CIFL Championship Game, where they defeated the Marion Blue Racers 44–29. After the Commandos season ended, Sheehan signed with the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League, but never appeared in a game. In 2012, Sheehan returned to the Commandos and led them to a 7–2 record, this time in the United Indoor Football League. The Commandos took the first place seed into the playoffs, and won Ultimate Bowl II 62–44 over the Florida Tarpons.

He played college football for the Oregon Ducks, becoming the first player at the school and the first Hawaii-born athlete to win the Heisman Trophy among many other awards in 2014.
The 2013 Bowling Green Falcons football team represented Bowling Green State University in the 2013 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Through the 2013 MAC Championship Game, the Falcons were led by fifth-year head coach Dave Clawson. On December 10, Clawson left to become the new head coach at Wake Forest; the school named special teams coordinator Adam Scheier as interim head coach for the 2013 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.

The 17th edition of Little Caesars Pizza Bowl featured the Pittsburgh Panthers from the Atlantic Coast Conference against the Bowling Green Falcons from the Mid-American Conference. They represented the East Division in the MAC Championship where they defeated Northern Illinois to become MAC champions. They were invited to the GoDaddy Bowl where they lost to Georgia Southern.
Sean Lewis is an American college football coach. He is the head football coach at San Diego State University, a position he has held since 2024. He was the offensive coordinator at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2023 and the head football coach at Kent State University from 2018 to 2022. Lewis played college football at Wisconsin.

The 2022 Ohio Bobcats football team represented Ohio University as a member of the East Division of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in the 2022 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by second-year head coach Tim Albin and played their home games at Peden Stadium in Athens, Ohio. They finished the season 10–4 and 7–1 in the MAC and won the MAC East for the first time since 2016. They lost to Toledo in the MAC Championship Game. Ohio defeated Wyoming in the Arizona Bowl
