Matthew N. Mitchell (born November 27, 1974) is an American football coach and former player who is the special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach for the Wisconsin Badgers. He was the head football coach at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan from 2010 to 2022.

Playing career

Mitchell was a two-time, First-Team All-Midwest Conference selection as a defensive lineman during his playing career at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, where he earned a B.S.S. in biology and secondary education in 1997.

Coaching career

From 2000 to 2003, Mitchell was an assistant coach serving as Linebackers coach at Wartburg College. From 2004 to 2009, he served as an assistant at Grand Valley State coach under Chuck Martin. Following the 2009 season, Mitchell was named head coach at Grand Valley State when Martin left to join former Grand Valley State head coach Brian Kelly at Notre Dame.

Personal life

Mitchell and his wife, Jen, are the parents of sons Trayton and RJ. [1]

Tressel, the nephew of former Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel, joined the University of Cincinnati's football coaching staff under Mark Dantonio in 2004. Tressel followed Dantonio to Michigan State when he was hired there in December 2006. He was named the acting head coach when Dantonio announced his retirement in February 2020. Tressel was one of two Dantonio assistants retained by Dantonio's successor, Mel Tucker.

Jimmy Rogers is an American football coach and former player who is currently the head coach for the South Dakota State Jackrabbits of the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC). After playing college football for the Jackrabbits, he served as a graduate assistant with them for two years before joining Florida Atlantic in 2012. He returned to South Dakota State in 2013 as linebackers coach, later receiving a promotion to defensive coordinator in 2019, the position he served in until being named head coach in 2023. He closed his first season as Jackrabbit head coach by leading his team to the NCAA Division 1 FCS National Championship in Frisco, TX, January 7, 2024.
