Mathies "Matt" Parrott (May 11,1837 – April 21,1900) was an American politician and businessman.
Born in Schoharie County,New York,Parrott moved to Iowa and was in the newspaper and printing business. He served in the Iowa Senate and was Lieutenant Governor of Iowa. He died in Battle Creek,Michigan. [1] [2]

The event was won by Giovanni Lombardi of Italy, the nation's first victory in the event since 1900 and second victory overall; Italy was the first nation to have two wins in the men's points race. Léon van Bon gave the Netherlands its second consecutive silver in the event. Bronze went to Cédric Mathy of Belgium.

His professional baseball debut came in 1890 as a member of the Portland Webfeet. Parrott was the first MLB player from Oregon. He stood at 5 feet 11 inches (180 cm) and weighed 160 pounds (73 kg). His brother, Tom Parrott, was also an MLB player and a teammate of his on the Chicago Colts.
