Sir Matthew David Baggott, CBE , QPM (born 1959 [1] ) is a retired senior British police officer. He was Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland from 2009 to 2014.
Baggott joined the Metropolitan Police in 1978. He moved to West Midlands Police as Assistant Chief Constable in 1998, and was promoted to Deputy Chief Constable in 2001. He was appointed Chief Constable of Leicestershire Constabulary in 2002. [2]
In September 2009, he succeeded Sir Hugh Orde as Chief Constable of the Police Service of Northern Ireland. In January 2014, it was announced that he would retire from the PSNI in September 2014, having decided that he would not apply to extend his contract. [3] On 5 June 2014, he announced that he would retire earlier than planned; stepping down on 29 June. [4]
He was President of the Christian Police Association. [5]
Baggott was awarded the Queen's Police Medal (QPM) in the 2004 Birthday Honours, [6] and was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2008 New Year Honours 'for services to the Police'. [7] [8] He was knighted in the 2015 New Year Honours for services to policing. [9] [10]

John Arthur Stevens, Baron Stevens of Kirkwhelpington, is a former Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, having served from 2000 until 2005. From 1991 to 1996, he was Chief Constable of Northumbria Police before being appointed one of HM Inspectors of Constabulary in September 1996. He was then appointed Deputy Commissioner of the Met in 1998 until his promotion to Commissioner in 2000. He was a writer for the News of the World, for £7,000 an article, until his resignation as the hacking scandal progressed.

General John Nicholas Reynolds Houghton, Baron Houghton of Richmond, is a retired senior British Army officer and former Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of the British Armed Forces. He was appointed CDS in July 2013, following the retirement of General Sir David Richards. He served as Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion, the Green Howards in Northern Ireland during The Troubles and later became Commander of the 39th Infantry Brigade in Northern Ireland. He deployed as Senior British Military Representative and Deputy Commanding General, Multi-National Force – Iraq during the Iraq War. Later, he became Chief of Joint Operations at Permanent Joint Headquarters and served as Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff until assuming the position of CDS. Houghton retired from the British Army in July 2016, and was succeeded as CDS by Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach.
