Matthew Simms is an English guitarist best known for his work with the band Wire. [1]

Simms formed the band It Hugs Back with schoolmates Paul Michael, Jack Theedom and Will Blackaby. [2] Their debut album, Inside Your Guitar, was released in 2009. [3] [4] Their second album, Laughing Party, was released in 2012. [5]

In 2010 Simms joined Wire for their Red Barked Tree tour [6] initially as a touring guitarist but then as a full member of the band. [6] The first Wire album Simms appeared on was 2013's Change Becomes Us . [7] He went on to appear on: Wire , [7] Nocturnal Koreans , [7] Silver/Lead, [7] and Mind Hive (2020). [8]

Since joining Wire Simms has balanced his work with both Wire and It Hugs Back. [5]

With fellow Wire-mate Graham Lewis Simms joined bassist Mike Watt (Minutemen) and drummer Bob Lee to form FITTED. [9] Initially formed as a one-off group for Wire's DRILL festival in Los Angeles, [9] [10] the four decided to record an album. [11]

First Fits, their debut album, was recorded from 2017 to 2018 [12] with Lewis and Watt trading lead vocals. [10] Training Pit Bulls For The Navy was the first single. [9]

Simms also records solo work under the pen name "Slows" [13] which is an experimental electronic project in which Simms plays electric organ. [1] He performed at London South Bank University at their inaugural Magnetic South festival in April 2016. [14]

Simms, Verity Susman and Kat Duma received a Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Original Music in a Documentary at the 12th Canadian Screen Awards in 2024 for their work on Tramps! . [15]

Michael David Watt is an American bassist, vocalist and songwriter. He co-founded and played bass guitar for the rock bands Minutemen (1980–1985), Dos (1985–present), and Firehose (1986–1994). He began a solo career with the 1994 album Ball-Hog or Tugboat?, he has since released three additional solo albums, most recently in 2010 with Hyphenated-man. He is also the frontman for the supergroup Big Walnuts Yonder (2008–present), a member of the art rock group Banyan (1997–present) and is involved with several other musical projects. From 2003 until 2013, he was the bass guitarist for The Stooges.

Hopesfall is an American post-hardcore band from Charlotte, North Carolina, formed in 1998. They are currently signed to Equal Vision Records. The band dissolved in 2008 after all members, with the exception of singer Jay Forrest, left the band. Following this, the lineup of the band's first two albums got together temporarily and played reunion shows in 2011. The band finally reformed with the majority of their last album's members and original drummer Adam Morgan in 2016 with a new label Equal Vision Records. Arbiter was released on July 13, 2018.

Minutemen were an American punk rock band formed in San Pedro, California, in 1980. Composed of guitarist/vocalist D. Boon, bassist/vocalist Mike Watt, and drummer George Hurley, Minutemen recorded four albums and eight EPs before Boon's death in an automobile accident in 1985; the band broke up shortly thereafter. They were noted in the California punk community for a philosophy of "jamming econo"—a sense of thriftiness reflected in their touring and short, tight songs, and for their eclectic style, drawing on hardcore punk, funk, jazz, and other sources.
