Prior to the 2019 decision by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the Russian Federation was expected to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, which took place from 23 July to 8 August 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It would have been the country's seventh consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics as an independent nation; however, their athletes were entered and represented under the "Russian Olympic Committee", using the acronym "ROC", due to the consequences of the doping scandal in the country. The team finished fifth in the medal standings with 20 gold and 71 total medals, winning 1 gold medal and 15 total medal more than five years prior. The Soviet Union/Unified Team/Russia/ROC never finished below fifth since they started competing in 1952. This was ROC' first and only appearance at the Summer Olympics as Belarus along with Russia was barred from competiting at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris as a result of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Emma Wilson is a British windsurfer who won a bronze medal in the RS:X event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. She won the RS:X events at the Youth Sailing World Championships in 2016 and 2017, and won medals at the 2018 and 2019 RS:X European Championships, and the 2022 and 2023 IQFoil European Championships. She won her second Olympic bronze medal in the iQFoil at the 2024 Paris Games.

Eilidh Jane McIntyre is a British former sailor, who won the gold medal alongside Hannah Mills in the 470 event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She won the 2019 470 World Championships, and came second at the 2017 470 World Championships. She finished third at the 2015 470 European Championships, and second at the 2019 and 2021 events, as well as having won multiple Sailing World Cup medals. In 2022, McIntyre was awarded an MBE for services to yachting.
Line Flem Høst is a Norwegian competitive sailor, born in Oslo. She won a bronze medal at the 2020 Women's Laser Radial World Championship in Melbourne. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo 2021, in Laser Radial.
Anna Burnet is a British Olympic silver medallist and two-time world champion in sailings Mixed multihull Olympic discipline. She lives in Scotland. In 2020 she became world champion in the Nacra 17 World Championship with partner John Gimson. They were selected for the British Olympic team and gained silver medals at the 2020 Summer Olympics. The pair continued their good run to win the 2021 World and European Championships.
Derin Atakan is a Turkish female kitesurfer competing in the Formula Kite class. She qualified to participate at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.

Elena Lengwiler born Elena Bosshard is a Swiss Ice Hockey player and a nominated kitefoiler for the 24 Olympics. She was fourth in the 2024 European championships and she represents Switzerland in Formula Kite at the 2024 Olympics.
Mafalda Pires de Lima is a Portuguese kitefoiler. She has been sailing since the age of ten and when it was agreed that Formula Kite was to be an Olympic sport then she began to enjoy the difficult sport. She was Portugal's first woman kitesurfing champion.
