Mauro Galvano (born 30 March 1964 in Fiumicino, Roma) was a professional boxer and former WBC Super Middleweight Champion.
As an amateur, Galvano was the 1984 Italian Middleweight Champion and the 1985 Italian Light-Heavyweight Champion.
Galvano turned pro in 1986 and won the Vacant WBC super-middleweight title with a decision win over Dario Walter Matteoni in 1990. [1] He defended the belt twice before losing it to Nigel Benn via TKO in 1992. In the rematch with Benn in 1993, Galvano again came up short in a decision loss. [2] He retired in 1997.

In 2012, Galvano was sentenced to a six-year prison term for his part in gang related crimes such as extortion. [3]

Jermain Taylor is an American former professional boxer who competed from 2001 to 2014. He remains the most recent undisputed champion in the middleweight division, having defeated Bernard Hopkins in 2005, and in doing so ending Hopkins' ten-year reign as middleweight champion. This made Taylor the first, and to date, only male boxer in history to claim each title from all four major boxing sanctioning organizations in a single fight. He defeated Hopkins in a rematch six months later, making him the only boxer to have defeated Hopkins twice. Michael John Nunn is an American former professional boxer who competed from 1984 to 2002. Juan Carlos "J.C." Giménez Ferreyra is a Paraguayan boxer. During his career he was WBC International light heavyweight champion and unsuccessfully fought for the World Super Middleweight title four times, first against Mauro Galvano in 1992, then against Chris Eubank the same year, against Nigel Benn in 1994 and finally against Joe Calzaghe in 1998, losing via doctor stopage.
