Max Vernon (born May 24, 1988) is an American performer, composer/lyricist, and playwright from Los Angeles, California, currently living and performing in New York City, where they attended New York University. Best known for their work in musical theatre; their musicals include The View UpStairs , KPOP , and The Tattooed Lady.

Theatre

Max Vernon's original musicals include WIRED (music, lyrics, book; Ars Nova), The View UpStairs (music, lyrics, book; Lynn Redgrave Theatre, Culture Project) - inspired by the UpStairs Lounge arson attack, 30 Million (music, lyrics; book by Jason Kim; Keen Company), [1] KPOP (music, lyrics; book by Jason Kim; Ars Nova), and The Tattooed Lady (music, lyrics, book; Philadelphia Theatre Company).

The View UpStairs has received numerous regional productions since its original Off-Broadway run, including London (Soho Theatre), Richmond, Chicago, Sydney (Hayes Theatre), Los Angeles (Celebration Theatre), San Francisco (New Conservatory Theatre Center), Boston, Atlanta, Dallas, and Columbus, among others. The piece is published by Samuel French, [2] and the original cast album was released on Broadway Records. [3]

Peter Kellogg is a musical theater book writer and lyricist. He wrote the lyrics and the book for the 1992 production of the Broadway musical Anna Karenina, for which he received two 1993 Tony Award nominations, one for Best Book of a musical and one for the Best Original Score. American Idiot is a sung-through rock musical based on the concept album of the same name by rock band Green Day. After a run at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2009, the show moved to the St. James Theatre on Broadway. Previews began on March 24, 2010, and the musical officially opened on April 20, 2010. The show closed on April 24, 2011, after 422 performances. While Green Day did not appear in the production, vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong performed the role of "St. Jimmy" occasionally throughout the run.

The show tells the tale of the men on a losing college basketball team whose cheerleader girlfriends refuse to have sex with them until they win a game.

The View UpStairs is a musical with music, lyrics and book by Max Vernon based on the real-life events of the 1973 arson attack at the UpStairs Lounge, a gay bar in New Orleans. This attack resulted in the deaths of 32 people, the deadliest attack on a gay club in U.S. history before the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting. The show is inspired by and pays tributes to many of the patrons who frequented the venue.
