The mayor of Orange County, Florida is the chief executive officer and chairman of the Board of County Commissioners. The mayor is elected countywide.
The mayor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the county government of Orange County, Florida, overseeing over 7,000 employees with an annual budget of over $3 billion. [1]
Before the approval by voters of a 2004 charter amendment, the position of mayor was called "Orange County chairman", which became an elected position in 1930. The Orange County mayor's post is the most powerful elected office in Central Florida. The current mayor of Orange County is Jerry Demings. Demings assumed office on December 4, 2018 and was subsequently re-elected in 2022.

Florida's 10th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Florida. It was reassigned in 2012, effective January 3, 2013, from the Gulf Coast to inland Central Florida. Before 2017, the district included parts of western Orange County, most of Lake County, as well as a northern section of Polk County. The current district is entirely within Orange County, and covers most of its western portion. It is situated along the Interstate 4 corridor. It includes most of the western half of Orlando. Other cities and towns wholly or partly within the district include Apopka, Belle Isle, Beulah, Eatonville, Harlem Heights, Ocoee, Oak Ridge, Orlo Vista, Winter Garden, and Windermere. In 2020, the district was expanded further north and south to include most of Orlando east of Interstate 4, the Baldwin Park area, Orlando Executive Airport, Winter Park, that portion of Maitland within Orange County, the Azaela Park, Goldenrod, Rio Pinar and Alafaya/Waterford Lakes areas, and continuing east to the University of Central Florida, Naval Support Activity Orlando, the Central Florida Research Park, and the Lake Pickett, Bithlo and Wedgefield areas. Even with this expansion, the 10th remains a minority majority district.

Valdez Venita Demings is an American politician and former police officer who served as U.S. representative for Florida's 10th congressional district from 2017 to 2023. The district covered most of the western half of Orlando and includes much of the area around Orlando's resort parks. It includes many of Orlando's western suburbs, including Apopka and Winter Garden. From 2007 to 2011, Demings served as the first female chief of the Orlando Police Department, closing a 27-year career in law enforcement. She has also been first lady of Orange County, Florida, since December 4, 2018, when her husband Jerry Demings was sworn in as County Mayor.

Jerry L. Demings is an American politician and former law enforcement officer serving as Mayor of Orange County, Florida since 2018. A member of the Democratic Party, he previously served as Sheriff of Orange County, Florida from 2009 to 2018, and served as Chief of the Orlando Police Department and Director of Public Safety for Orange County, Florida. He was elected as the county's Mayor in August 2018, becoming both the first Democrat and African American to hold the office.
The County Executive of Essex County in the U.S. state of New Jersey, is the chief officer of the county's executive branch and oversees the administration of county government. Approved in a 1977 referendum, the office was inaugurated in 1978 at the same time the Board of Chosen Freeholders, which plays a legislative role, was reconfigured to include a mix of at-large and district seats. The executive offices are located at the Essex County Government Complex in the county seat, Newark. Incumbent Republican mayor Richard Crotty was unable to seek re-election due to term limits, and four candidates ran to replace him. A nonpartisan primary election was held on August 24, 2010, but because no candidate won a majority of the vote, former county commissioner Teresa Jacobs, a Republican, advanced to a runoff election against fellow county commissioner Bill Segal, a Democrat. Following a contentious general election, Jacobs was elected mayor over Segal in a landslide, winning her first term 68–32.

Incumbent Republican governor Ron DeSantis won re-election in a landslide and defeated the Democratic Party nominee, Charlie Crist, who served as governor of Florida from 2007 to 2011 as a Republican and later as an independent. No Democrat has been elected governor of Florida since 1994.
