Teresa Jacobs (born April 6,1958 in Baltimore,Maryland) is an American politician serving since 2018 as the Chair of Orange County Public School Board. [4] Jacobs previously served as Mayor of Orange County from 2011 until taking office as school board chair in November 2018,also having represented district 1 on the Orange County Board of County Commissioners from 2000 to 2008.
Jacobs was raised in Miami and Jupiter,Florida. She is a graduate of Florida State University,graduating cum laude with a degree in economics. Teresa Jacobs is married to Bruce. They have four children together.
Teresa Jacobs moved to Atlanta,Georgia in 1981. She was Assistant Vice President of National Bank of Georgia,Atlanta from 1981 to 1989. [5]
Teresa Jacobs represented District 1 on the Board of County Commissioners,which encompasses southwest Orange County from Winter Garden to Hunter's Creek. She was elected in 2000,re-elected in 2004,and stepped down in 2008 due to term limits. Jacobs was credited with championing new ethics rules for county elected officials,and successfully strengthening local laws to prevent school overcrowding.[ citation needed ] She was elected President of the Florida Association of Counties in 2007. Jacobs announced that she planned to run for Mayor of Orange County in 2010. Jacobs was the last candidate to enter the race. She was opposed by Bill Segal,Linda Stewart,and Matthew Falconer. On August 24,2010,Linda Stewart (19%) and Matthew Falconer (15%) were eliminated in the primary election. Teresa Jacobs (42%) and Bill Segal (22%) both advanced to the general election in a run off. In the general election on November 2,2010,Teresa Jacobs resoundingly defeated Bill Segal,68% - 32%,despite being out fund raised 2-1. [6]
Despite Val Demings having been in the race early on,she dropped out leaving Teresa Jacobs winning the election unopposed.

Orange County is a county located in the central part of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census,the county had a population of 1,429,908,making it the fifth-most populous county in Florida and the 28th-most populous county in the United States. Its county seat is Orlando,which,along with it being the county's largest city,is the core of the Orlando metropolitan area,which had a population of 2.67 million in 2020.

Florida's 10th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Florida. It was reassigned in 2012,effective January 3,2013,from the Gulf Coast to inland Central Florida. Before 2017,the district included parts of western Orange County,most of Lake County,as well as a northern section of Polk County. The current district is entirely within Orange County,and covers most of its western portion. It is situated along the Interstate 4 corridor. It includes most of the western half of Orlando. Other cities and towns wholly or partly within the district include Apopka,Belle Isle,Beulah,Eatonville,Harlem Heights,Ocoee,Oak Ridge,Orlo Vista,Winter Garden,and Windermere. In 2020,the district was expanded further north and south to include most of Orlando east of Interstate 4,the Baldwin Park area,Orlando Executive Airport,Winter Park,that portion of Maitland within Orange County,the Azaela Park,Goldenrod,Rio Pinar and Alafaya/Waterford Lakes areas,and continuing east to the University of Central Florida,Naval Support Activity Orlando,the Central Florida Research Park,and the Lake Pickett,Bithlo and Wedgefield areas. Even with this expansion,the 10th remains a minority majority district.
The Board of County Commissioners (BCC) is the governing body of Orange County,Florida. It runs in the manner of a county commission. It has six seats held by elected officials called "County Commissioners",each commissioner in charge of their own District,led by a separate mayor of Orange County.
Bryan Nelson is a Florida-based politician,serving as Mayor of Apopka since 2018. A Republican,he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives,representing the 31st District,which includes the cities of Apopka,Eustis,Mount Dora,Tavares,and Umatilla in northern Lake County and northern Orange County,since 2012. The district contained Walt Disney World,Universal Studios Florida,SeaWorld,International Drive,and the Orange County Convention Center.
The 2010 Orange County,Florida mayoral election took place on November 2,2010. Incumbent Republican Mayor Richard Crotty was unable to seek re-election due to term limits,and four candidates ran to replace him. A nonpartisan primary election was held on August 24,2010,but because no candidate won a majority of the vote,former County Commissioner Teresa Jacobs,a Republican,advanced to a runoff election against fellow County Commissioner Bill Segal,a Democrat. Following a contentious general election,Jacobs was elected Mayor over Segal in a landslide,winning her first term 68–32.
The 2022 United States House of Representatives elections in Florida were held on November 8,2022,to elect the 28 U.S. representatives from Florida,one from each of the state's 28 congressional districts. The primary was held on August 23,2022.
