Mazhavillinattam Vare (transl. Till the End of the Rainbow) is a Malayalam–language sports and musical film co-written and directed by Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri. The screenplay is written by T.A. Razaq based on the story by Kaithapram. [1] It will be the directorial debut of Kaithapram, a noted poet, writer, lyricist, composer and actor from Malayalam cinema. [2] It stars Abbas Hasan and Archana Jose Kavi in the lead roles, with Sai Kumar, Salim Kumar, Madhu, Nedumudi Venu, Krishna and Kaviyoor Ponnamma playing other prominent roles. The film is about the life-changing journey of a young Pakistani cricketer (Abbas Hasan) and a college student (Archana Kavi) who is an ardent admirer of him. [1] Principal photography of the film began in September 2010, and is being completed from Kannur and Thalassery, Kerala. [5] It is to be distributed by Sree Gokulam Films. [1]
The film's protagonist is Yassin Mubarak Azad, a Pakistani cricketer who comes to Kerala on a mission. Pakistani fast bowler Mohammed Asif was originally cast in this role but was replaced when he was found involved in a match fixing scandal. [6] Kaithapram then signed Pakistani batsman Mohammad Hafeez in the role. [7] He was also replaced due to his busy cricket schedules. [1] Kaithapram's final choice was Abbas Hasan, a Canadian-born, Paris-raised, and London-based Pakistani singer. [8] Hasan is on his acting debut through this film. Malayalee cricketer Sreesanth was also reportedly considered for playing an important role. [5] After Sreesanth was arrested on charges of spot-fixing in the Indian Premier League, Kaithapram announced that he would be cutting out those scenes featuring the cricketer from the film. [9]
The film's music is by Deepankuran. The soundtrack album was launched by actor Mammootty on 3 January 2011, at Gokulam Auditorium, Kochi. [10]
Madath Thekkepaattu Vasudevan Nair, popularly known as M.T., is an Indian author, screenplay writer and film director. He is a prolific and versatile writer in modern Malayalam literature, and is one of the masters of post-Independence Indian literature. At the age of 20, as a chemistry undergraduate, he won the prize for the best short story in Malayalam at World Short Story Competition conducted by The New York Herald Tribune. His first major novel Naalukettu, written at the age of 23, won the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award in 1958. His other novels include Manju (Mist), Kaalam (Time), Asuravithu and Randamoozham. The deep emotional experiences of his early days have gone into the making of MT's novels. Most of his works are oriented towards the basic Malayalam family structure and culture and many of them were path-breaking in the history of Malayalam literature. His three seminal novels on life in the matriarchal family in Kerala are Naalukettu, Asuravithu, and Kaalam. Randamoozham, which retells the story of the Mahabharatha from the point of view of Bhimasena, is widely credited as his masterpiece.
Kandukondain Kandukondain is a 2000 Indian Tamil-language romantic musical film directed and co-written by Rajiv Menon. He was the first music director from Malayalam cinema to be honoured with the National film Awards. He died of a heart attack in Chennai on 18 August 2011.
