SWARCO McCain, Inc. is a privately held American manufacturing company headquartered in Vista, CA.
Specializing in traffic equipment and contract manufacturing, SWARCO McCain, Inc. has employed over 500 employees between its headquarters, regional offices, and two manufacturing facilities–the newest LEED-certified manufacturing facility [1] in Vista, California and Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.
The company was founded in 1987 by Jeffrey L. McCain as McCain Traffic Supply, a small manufacturer of traffic signals. In 1991, McCain Traffic Supply began manufacturing its own line of traffic controllers and cabinets. That same year, McCain expanded its sales and technical support efforts by opening a branch office and small manufacturing facility in Preston, Washington.
To keep up with demand, in 1995 McCain expanded operations into Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico by opening a 140,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility. [2] By the late 1990s, McCain was manufacturing a full line of traffic equipment products that included traffic signals, signs, cabinets, and controllers.
At the turn of the century, McCain's portfolio expanded through the addition of software that would grow to include traffic signal control software, central traffic management systems, adaptive signal control, and other controller software programs. To better represent the gamut of products and services available, McCain Traffic Supply changed its name to McCain, Inc. in 2005.
With large-scale operations in place, McCain gradually expanded the contract manufacturing division by offering manufacturing to third parties. In 2009 McCain, Inc. made the San Diego Business Journal’s “San Diego’s 50 Best Places to Work” list. [3] That same year, CEO Jeffrey McCain was recognized by the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 Award. [4]
By the late 2000s, sales and technical support offices were established in Texas, Oregon, Virginia, and an extensive distributor network was created.
In 2011, McCain continued to grow its operations by adding a new 100,000 sq. ft. LEED-certified manufacturing facility in Vista, CA, located near its headquarters.
In the last two decades, McCain, Inc. has manufactured and sold more than 5.6 million traffic signals, 75,000 cabinets, and 58,000 controllers, which can be found across the US and in Kuwait, the Philippines, Canada, Mexico, and other countries. [5]
In August 2016, McCain became a part of the SWARCO group, making products for road safety and intelligent traffic management.
In August 2022, McCain, Inc. changed its name to SWARCO McCain, Inc. and adopted SWARCO's corporate branding. The McCain name migrated to a product branding level to pay homage to its legacy product's roots.

XETV-TDT is a television station located in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, broadcasting programs from Canal 5 and NU9VE. Its terrestrial signal also covers the San Diego, California area across the international border in the United States. The station is owned by Grupo Televisa, and its technical operations and transmitter facilities are located at Mount San Antonio in Tijuana.
The San Diego and Imperial Valley Railroad (SD&IV) is a class III railroad operating freight rail service in the San Diego area, providing service to customers in the region and moving railcars between the end of the BNSF Railway in Downtown San Diego and the Mexico–United States border in San Ysidro. The railroad has exclusive trackage rights to operate over tracks of the San Diego and Arizona Eastern Railway, a subsidiary of the Metropolitan Transit System, the regional public transit service provider. Tracks are shared with the San Diego Trolley, another subsidiary of the Metropolitan Transit System, and freight trains are only operated at night when passenger service is not in operation. XHDTV-TDT is a television station in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, affiliated with Milenio Televisión and serving the Tijuana–San Diego international metropolitan area. The station's license and transmitter are owned by Mexican company Televisora Alco, which is 40% owned by station operator Entravision Communications; XHDTV is a sister station to Entravision-owned Univision affiliate KBNT-CD, UniMás affiliate KDTF-LD and Azteca América affiliate XHAS-TDT. All four stations share studios on Ruffin Road in the Kearny Mesa section of San Diego, California, United States; XHDTV's transmitter is located on Cerro Bola, within the municipality of Tecate. Despite no longer carrying American content, XHDTV continues to be carried on channel 13 by San Diego Cox systems on the U.S. side of the market; the station is also carried in Tijuana on Izzi channel 49.

KBNT-CD is a low-power, Class A television station in San Diego, California, United States, affiliated with the Spanish-language Univision network. It is owned by Entravision Communications alongside UniMás affiliate KDTF-LD ; it is also sister to Milenio Televisión affiliate XHDTV-TDT. XHDTV-TDT is owned by Mexican-based Televisora Alco, which is 40% owned by Entravision. The Tecate Port of Entry is one three ports of entry in the San Diego–Tijuana metropolitan region. The land port is located between Tecate, California in San Diego County's Mountain Empire and Tecate Municipality in Baja California. It connects California State Route 188 with Paseo Lázaro Cárdenas, a spur of Mexico Federal Highway 2, as well as Federal Highway 3 to the south. It is a minor port in comparison to the larger San Ysidro Port of Entry and Otay Mesa Port of Entry. This is attributed in part to the fact that reaching the crossing on the US side requires driving on narrow, winding mountain roads.
The Pacific Imperial Railroad was a company in possession of the SD&AE Desert Line right of way in Southern California, colloquially referred to as the Desert Line. The Desert Line starts at the border crossing at Division, near Campo at Milepost 59.94 in eastern San Diego County, California where it connects with the Baja California Railroad in Mexico, and stretches 70.1 miles through the Jacumba Mountains to El Centro, California, where it connects to Union Pacific Railroad at Milepost 129.61. The significance of the Desert Line is that it provides an alternative rail route to and from the east for servicing the distribution, transportation, and supply chain needs of the Cali-Baja region.
Baja California Railroad, Inc. (BJRR) is a class III railroad operating in the northwest of Baja California, interchanging with San Diego and Imperial Valley Railroad in San Ysidro, California. After rehabilitation efforts are completed on the Desert Line portion of the railroad, an interchange is also planned with the Union Pacific Railroad in Plaster City, California.

Dicranostegia is a monotypic genus of hemiparasitic flowering plants belonging to the family Orobanchaceae, containing the species Dicranostegia orcuttiana, commonly known as Orcutt's bird's beak or Baja bird's beak. It is near-endemic to Baja California, found from Miller's Landing north to Tijuana, but has a few occurrences in southern San Diego County, California. It is differentiated among other similar species in California by its leaves with 8 to 11 lateral lobes that are paired. It was formerly placed in the genus Cordylanthus until phylogenetic analysis led to it being split off. This species is threatened by the destruction of its habitat from urbanization.
