Meat Machine were a rock band active during the first half of the 1990s. [1]
Meat Machine was founded in 1990 by Vincent James, the group's frontman and principal songwriter & Ford Shawcross, who later left the band in 1992 (He died in 2009.) Keyboard programmer, John Clarke (who later was one third of the Music Production team JKL; Who produced 2-step garage music acts such as MC Neat) was with Meat Machine from 1990 to 1991. John also contributed Additional Programmer work to several tracks on the Slug Album.
After record deal discussions with More Protein; A record label started by Boy George (who expressed considerable interest in signing the band), Meat Machine opted instead to sign with Kickin Records / Pandemonium Records in 1991; Releasing their Debut Single, Times Of Addiction / Nightmare in early 1992. Their debut LP Slug (recorded throughout 1992) was released in 1993; Co-Produced by Ralph Ruppert (aka Ralph 'P' Ruppert.)
American, Keyboard programmer, Steven Von Kampen joined the band in 1991 & along with Vincent James, Co-Composed most of the songs on the Slug Album. Guitarist Tony Stone (who joined in 1992) also contributed to writing on the Slug Album (inc. their 2nd Single); Although he left the group before the Album's release in 1993. Tony Stone later released several other records inc. Bio Static Systems Kommando Unit EP (1996).
Alastair Symons, Ex-Guitarist for The Lords of the New Church also contributed Guitar work to the Slug Album. Richard Kaltenhauser (who later formed Machine Rox in 2007) & Guitarist Pierre Xavier; Both French born, joined the band to assist in performing the Album live on the Slug Tour during late 1993 through early 1994. Mark Price Ex-Drummer for All About Eve & later The Cure replaced Mike Patterson on Drums, during 1994 on the Slug Tour.
In early 1994, Whilst Meat Machine were recording songs for their follow up second album, they split with Kickin Records & immediately commenced negotiations for a second Album record deal with the US & German Record Company Century Media Records. Also at this time the band were negotiating an Artist Management deal with Tim Collins at MIM / Mission Impossible Management (Whose stable of artists included Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Cure & The Pogues amongst others.) In May 1994, Meat Machine were approached to Support Nine Inch Nails on the UK & European leg of their Self-Destruct Tour, taking over from Marilyn Manson & Hole (band) Who played the USA stage of the tour. Whilst these negotiations were taking place, the band Meat Machine acrimoniously split-up, due to fierce in-fighting disagreements. Each band member then went their own way.
Steven Von Kampen returned to the US and began working in the videogames industry as a Sound Designer; Creating soundtracks for games inc. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine & Buffy the Vampire Slayer amongst others. Later moving on to composing music for (Short) films inc. No Menus Please (2006), iGod (2009) & the award-winning short film, Tu & Eu (2011); For which Steven Von Kampen was nominated for, Best Music Soundtrack at the Music Film Festival in Germany (2011) & Won the Best Original Score at the Williamsberg International Film Festival (2014) & was also the Bronze Winner for the Global Music Awards (2015).
Between 2000 & 2002, under the name of Meat Machine, Vincent James (aka Vince St. James) recorded a further Album, entitled Tripping Over Shadows which was released on MM Records Inc. This Album included 2 (previously unreleased) songs Co-Written with Steven Von Kampen.
March/April 2003—Japanese Gothic rock band Buck-Tick, Used various songs from Meat Machine's Slug Album on their 17 date Mona Lisa Overdrive (album) Tour & also the first date of their Here we go again! Tour at the close of April, playing to over 40,000 people across Japan. Buck-Tick's Guitarist, Songwriter & founding member, Hisashi Imai, named Meat Machine's Slug Album as being one of his favorite/influential albums.
Between 1988 and 1989, Before forming Meat Machine, Vincent James was signed to Tim Palmer's Beggars Banquet Records / City Beat Label (which was the precursor to XL Recordings) as a solo artist; Recording a 12-inch House Music Single (at Strongroom Recording Studios in Shoreditch) under the name of Vince James Project feat. J Rose; Co-Produced by Stephen W. Tayler (Sigue Sigue Sputnik & Kate Bush et al.) & Engineered by Neil McLellan (The Prodigy). The Single was later remixed at Madness (band) owned Liquidator Studios, by Rex Brough (aka King John and the Red King) who also produced songs on both Bomb The Bass & Betty Boo debut albums for the Rhythm King label.
Pitchshifter are an English industrial rock band from Nottingham, formed in 1989. The band was started by lead guitarist and programmer Johnny A. Carter, and bassist and vocalist Mark Clayden. The band's early material was characterized for its gritty industrial metal sound with downtuned guitars and the use of drum machines, and has been cited as one of the originators of the genre along with Godflesh. With later albums the group's music became increasingly more melodic and strongly influenced by nu metal and drum and bass; particularly evident of their 1998 release www.pitchshifter.com, which has been compared with groups like The Prodigy.
Melvins are an American rock band formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington. Their early work was key to the development of both grunge and sludge metal. Primarily a trio, they have also performed as a quartet, with either two drummers or two bassists. Since 1984, vocalist and guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover have been constant members.
Angel Dust is the fourth studio album by American rock band Faith No More, released on June 8, 1992, by Slash and Reprise Records. It is the follow-up to 1989's highly successful The Real Thing, and was the band's final album to feature guitarist Jim Martin. It was also the first album where vocalist Mike Patton had any substantial influence on the band's music, having been hired after the other band members had written and recorded everything for The Real Thing except vocals and most of the lyrics. The band stated that they wanted to move away from the funk metal style of their prior releases, towards a more "theatrical" sound.
Econoline Crush is a Canadian rock band from Vancouver, British Columbia, formed in 1992. They have released five studio albums and three studio EPs, and are best known for their charting singles such as "You Don't Know What It's Like", "Home", "Surefire ", "All That You Are (X3)", "Make It Right", and "Dirty". They achieved platinum status with the 1997 album The Devil You Know and also received two Juno nominations, in 1995 for Purge and in 1998 for The Devil You Know.
Electric Wizard are an English stoner/doom metal band from Dorset. Formed in 1988 under the name Lord of Putrefaction, the band have recorded nine studio albums, two of which have been considered genre landmarks: Come My Fanatics… (1997) and Dopethrone (2000). Electric Wizard's brand of doom metal incorporates stoner and sludge traits, with lyrics focusing on the occult, witchcraft, H. P. Lovecraft, horror films and cannabis.
Warrant is an American glam metal band formed in 1984 in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, that experienced success from 1989 to 1996 with five albums reaching international sales of over 10 million. The band first came into the national spotlight with their double platinum debut album Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich (1989) and one of its singles, "Heaven", which reached No. 1 in Rolling Stone and No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. The band's success continued in the early 1990s with the double platinum album Cherry Pie (1990), which provided the hit song of the same name.
Stone Sour was an American rock band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1992. The band performed for five years before disbanding in 1997. They reunited in 2000 and since 2015, the group has consisted of Corey Taylor, Josh Rand (guitar), Christian Martucci (guitar), Johny Chow (bass) and Roy Mayorga (drums). Longtime members Joel Ekman and Shawn Economaki left the band in 2006 and 2011, respectively. Former lead guitarist Jim Root left in 2014. The band has been on an indefinite hiatus since 2020.

The writer Patrick Kennedy wrote, "While developing the blueprint for noise-metal bands to follow, Unsane cut a remarkable swath through underground music, inspiring a devoted, cult-like following around the world."

Savoy Brown were a British blues rock band formed in Battersea, southwest London, in 1965. Part of the late 1960s blues rock movement, Savoy Brown primarily achieved success in the United States, where they promoted their albums with non-stop touring. Founder, guitarist and primary songwriter Kim Simmonds was the sole constant member of the band from its formation in 1965 until his death in 2022.
Creatures of the Night is the tenth studio album by American rock band Kiss, released in 1982. It was the band's last for Casablanca Records, the only label for which Kiss had recorded up to that point. The album was dedicated to the memory of Casablanca founder and early Kiss supporter Neil Bogart, who had died of cancer during the recording sessions. It is also the band's last album recorded with Ace Frehley credited as an official member and their first album with Vinnie Vincent, as the initially uncredited lead guitarist. Vincent would later be credited but not featured on the cover of the 1985 reissue of the album. It was also Kiss's last album to feature the band with their trademark makeup until the release of Psycho Circus in 1998.
Noiseworks are an Australian hard rock band formed in Sydney in 1986 with bass guitarist Steve Balbi, guitarist Stuart Fraser, drummer Kevin Nicol, keyboardist Justin Stanley and lead vocalist Jon Stevens. They had four Australian Top 10 albums, Noiseworks (1987), Touch (1988), Love Versus Money (1991) and Greatest Hits (1992). They produced three Top 10 singles, "Take Me Back", "Touch" and "Hot Chilli Woman" before disbanding in 1992. Reunion tours occurred in 1999, 2004, 2007–2008, 2011, 2013. The band later reformed in 2016 and in August 2022, released "Heart & Soul"; their first new song in 30 years. Noiseworks' fourth studio album, Evolution was released in November 2022.
Odds are a Canadian alternative rock band based in Vancouver, British Columbia. They were nominated for six Juno Awards in the 1990s. As of 2014, they are on their fifth record label.
Creeper are an English rock band from Southampton. Formed in 2014, the group originally featured vocalist Will Gould, guitarists Ian Miles and Sina Nemati, bassist Sean Scott, and drummer Dan Bratton. The band independently released their self-titled debut EP in 2014, before signing with Roadrunner Records and issuing follow-up The Callous Heart the next year. At the end of 2015, Nemati was replaced by Oliver Burdett and touring keyboardist/second vocalist Hannah Greenwood became an official band member. A third EP, The Stranger, was released in 2016 and reached the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart top ten.
Jon Stevens is a New Zealand singer, best known as the lead singer of the band Noiseworks in 1986–1992, the portrayal of Judas in a 1992 Australian production of Jesus Christ Superstar, and as the lead singer for the Australian rock band INXS in 2000–2003 after the death of the band's original lead singer Michael Hutchence.

Skyscraper were a British-based rock band active between 1992 and 1998. They released three singles on Food Records and two albums and one single on their own Dynosupreme Records, also touring the UK extensively and appearing on MTV and British national radio. The band were favourites of the UK rock press, with Metal Hammer magazine calling Skyscraper's 1995 album Superstate "... the best debut by far of any British rock band in recent years".

The band currently consists of Kellin Quinn, touring lead guitarist Tony Pizzuti, Nick Martin, Justin Hills and Matty Best. The band was formed in 2009 by members of For All We Know and Paddock Park. The group is currently signed to Sumerian Records and have released seven full-length albums and an acoustic EP.
Slug was an American noise rock group that formed in Los Angeles in 1988 by DJs from Loyola Marymount University campus radio station KXLU. Originally formed as an experimental noise collage trio utilizing metal percussion, feedback and primitive sound loops created via gouged children's and sound effect records, they subsequently added traditional instrumentation to the mix.
Nightlord is a British thrash metal band, based in London, England. In 2011, following the band's reformation, Powerplay Magazine proclaimed, "The future is looking very good indeed for this now legendary band".
