Megan Nicole Carter (born May 23, 2001) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Toronto Sceptres of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). She played college ice hockey at Northeastern.
Carter attended Craig Kielburger Secondary School, where she played field hockey and ultimate frisbee. She then played ice hockey for two seasons with the Stoney Creek Jr. Sabres of the Provincial Women's Hockey League. [1]
Carter began her collegiate career for Northeastern during the 2019–20 season. During her freshman year, she recorded two goals and 11 assists in 38 games. Following the season she was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. During the 2020–21 season in her sophomore year, she recorded five goals and seven assists in 25 games. During the 2021–22 season in her junior year, she recorded two goals and 12 assists in 38 games. [1]
During the 2022–23 season in her senior year, she recorded five goals and 17 assists in 30 games, and ranked second on the team with 55 blocked shots. Following the season she was named to the All-Hockey East First Team and Co-Hockey East Defender of the Year. [2] [1] On May 9, 2023, she was named team captain for the 2023–24 season. [3] As a graduate student, she recorded four goals and 21 assists in 34 games. Led all Hockey East defensemen with 25 points. Following the season she was named to the All-Hockey East First Team and Hockey East Defender of the Year for the second consecutive season. [4] [5]
On June 10, 2024, Carter was drafted in the second round, 12th overall, by PWHL Toronto in the 2024 PWHL Draft. [6] [7] On June 26, 2024, she signed a two-year contract with Toronto. [8] On November 13, 2024, she was placed on the long-term injured reserve list by the Toronto Sceptres with a lower-body injury. [9] [10]

Carter represented Canada at the 2019 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship where she was scoreless in four games and won a gold medal. [11]
Cater was born to Brad and Leanne Carter, and has two sisters, Lauren and Ashlyn. She graduated from Northeastern University with a bachelor's degree in biology. [1] She then obtained a master's degree in human movement and rehabilitation science in 2024. [12]

The Northeastern women's ice hockey team represents Northeastern University. The Huskies play in the Hockey East conference.
The UConn Huskies women's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Connecticut. The Huskies compete in the Hockey East conference. The Huskies play in the Toscano Family Ice Forum.
Lauriane Rougeau is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Prior to retirement, she played for PWHL Toronto during the inaugural season of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). She played college ice hockey at Cornell, where she is a former All-American selection. She was part of the Montreal Stars team that captured the inaugural Clarkson Cup in 2009. Competing in Ice hockey at the 2014 Winter Olympics, she was part of Canada's gold medal triumph. Having also earned a gold medal at the 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship, she is among a rare group of Canadian female hockey players that have won the Clarkson Cup, IIHF World Gold and Winter Games gold.
Hayley Scamurra is an American professional ice hockey player for the Ottawa Charge of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), and a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team. She played college ice hockey at Northeastern, where she played for four seasons.
Daryl Watts is a Canadian women's ice hockey player currently playing for the Toronto Sceptres of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL). While a member of the Boston College Eagles, Watts was awarded the 21st Patty Kazmaier Award, becoming the first freshman player to win the award. Watts finished the season with 82 points, which led all competitors in NCAA women's ice hockey.
