Synchronized swimming or artistic swimming is a sport where swimmers perform a synchronized choreographed routine, accompanied by music. The sport is governed internationally by World Aquatics. It has traditionally been a women's sport, although FINA introduced a new mixed gender duet competition that included one male swimmer in each duet at the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and European Aquatics introduced men's individual events at the 2022 European Aquatics Championships. From 2024, men are able to compete in the team event at the Olympics.
Artistic swimming has been an event at the Summer Olympics since the 1984 Games. The current Olympic program consists of a Women's Duet event and a Mixed Team event.

Nathalie Schneyder is an American competitor and Coach in synchronized swimming and was an Olympic champion in team competition in 1996 in Atlanta. She also won team golds in FINA World competitions and Pan Pacific competitions. She competed in team, individual, and duet synchronized competition.
William May is an American synchronized swimmer. Performing primarily in duets, May won several national and international events. May desired to compete at the 2004 Summer Olympics, but then there was not yet a mixed or male category in Synchronized Swimming.

Mary Killman is an American synchronized swimmer. After switching to synchronized swimming from race swimming, Killman was a member of the teams that won silver medals in the duet and team competitions at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico and 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Dominika Kopcik is a Canadian synchronized swimmer. She began synchronized swimming at the age of 10. At 14, she became a national champion, earning her a spot to compete in the 2003 Canada Games, where she won in three categories. By the next spring season, Kopcik had won the national championships again and made her first Canadian National team. Kopcik then competed at the 2004 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships.
Evangelia Platanioti is a Greek artistic swimmer. She competed in the women's duet at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She also competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the women's duet where her partner was Evangelia Papazoglou. They finished in 10th place.
Lara Teixeira is a Brazilian synchronized swimmer. She competed in the women's duet at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics and was part of the Brazilian team at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Her partner in 2008 and 2012 was Nayara Figueria. The team of Teixeira and Figueria were known for their innovative choreography and irreverent costumes. In total, Teixeira competed at 3 Olympic Games, 5 World Championships and 3 Pan American Games.
Synchronized swimming competitions at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto was held from July 9 to 11 at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre. Due to naming rights the arena will be known as the latter for the duration of the games. The competition was split into two events a duet event and team competition. Due to Pan American Games being scheduled to be held roughly around the same time as the 2015 World Aquatics Championships scheduled for Kazan, Russia, the synchronized swimming events began the day before the opening ceremony.

Artistic swimming competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru are scheduled were held between July 29 and 31, 2019 at the Aquatics Centre in the Villa Deportiva Nacional Videna cluster.
Claudia Holzner is a Canadian synchronized swimmer. She represented Canada at the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Tokyo, Japan. She also represented Canada at the World Aquatics Championships in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019.
Sylvie Fortier is a Canadian former synchronized swimmer. She won medals in Canadian provincial and national competitions, at the World Aquatics Championships, the Pan American Games and the Pan Pacific Games. Fortier was named the 1976 world champion in synchronized swimming for her achievements that year and was a torch bearer for the opening ceremony of the Montreal Summer Olympics. She retired in 1977 aged just 18. Fortier is an inductee of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame and the Aquatics Hall of Fame.
Shelly Bobritsky is an Israeli Olympic swimmer who competes in Artistic swimming. She competed in the 2020 Olympics in duet, was the European Champion in the free combination event in 2023, and was a three-time European medalist as well as a two-time European Cup bronze medalist. Bobritsky is representing Israel at the 2024 Paris Olympics in artistic swimming women's duet with Ariel Nassee at the Paris Aquatic Centre on August 9 and 10, 2024.
Ruby Remati is an American synchronized swimmer. She represented the United States at the 2024 Summer Olympics and won a silver medal.
