MellowHypeWeek (stylized as MELLOWHYPEWEEK) is the third mixtape by Odd Future sub-group MellowHype. It was released to hold fan over until they released their second and final studio album, Numbers . A track was released everyday starting September 11 up to September 18, 2012. It contains features from Juicy J and Domo Genesis.
A mixtape is a compilation of music, typically from multiple sources, recorded onto a medium. With origins in the 1980s, the term normally describes a homemade compilation of music onto a cassette tape, CD, or digital playlist. The songs are either ordered sequentially or made into a continuous program by beatmatching the songs and creating seamless transitions at their beginnings and endings with fades or abrupt edits. Essayist Geoffrey O'Brien described this definition of the mixtape as "perhaps the most widely practiced American art form".
Odd Future, also known as Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All or OFWGKTA, is an American hip hop collective formed in Los Angeles in 2007. The collective was originally formed by Tyler, the Creator, Hodgy, Left Brain, Casey Veggies, The Super 3, and Jasper Dolphin. Later members include Earl Sweatshirt, Domo Genesis, Mike G, and Syd. Outside music, Odd Future had an Adult Swim skit show called Loiter Squad and a clothing line named Golf Wang. Since 2015, the collective has been largely inactive as a unit. Many have speculated that the collective has broken up, although this has never been affirmatively announced.
MellowHype is an American hip hop duo from Los Angeles, California, that consists of rapper-producer Hodgy and producer-rapper Left Brain. Both are members of hip hop collective Odd Future. They have released two studio albums which both charted on the Billboard 200 albums chart and four mixtapes.
