The Melodije Istre i Kvarnera 2024 is the 54th edition of the annual Melodije Istre i Kvarnera, a song contest held annually in multiple towns in the Istria and Primorje-Gorski Kotar counties of Croatia. The Melodije Istre i Kvarnera 2024 marks the milestone 60th anniversary since its inaugural edition in 1964.
The 2024 edition of the contest is scheduled to take place from 1 June to 8 June 2024. The host cities and municipalities for this year's contest include Bakar, Kastav, Punat, Svetvinčenat, Pazin and Rijeka, where the final night will be held on 8 June 2024. [1]
On 30 November 2023 the submission period where artists and composers were able to submit their entries to the organisers until 1 February 2024. [2] To be accepted, songs must either have lyrics written in the Chakavian dialect or Croatian literary language, or in Italian dialectal or literary language, with thematic relevance to the festival's region. [3] Alternatively, they must incorporate ethno elements from the Istrian-Kvarner region into the musical composition. [4]
The Melodije Istre i Kvarnera 2024 contest will feature six host cities: Bakar, Kastav, Punat, Svetvinčenat, Pazin and Rijeka each hosting an evening of performances and voting. [5] Votes will be collected independently in each city throughout the event. [6] On the final night in Rijeka, the votes from all six evenings will be aggregated to determine the overall winner of the contest. [6] Throughout the event, all songs will be performed on each evening, with the winner of the previous night having the honor of performing first on the subsequent day. [6]
On 14 March 2024 a list of all compiting entries and artists was published. [7] Sixteen entries were selected, the participant include previous winners such as Duško Jeličić, Gina Picinić, Grupa 777, Joso Butorac, Karin Kuljanić and Nevia Rigutto. [7] The competing entries were released on 15 May 2024. [8] Elis Lovrić was supposed to participate with the entry "Dobrota", but on the day the songs were presented, a song titled "Moja mati" was listed as her entry instead. [9]

Saša, Tin i Kedžo was the first Croatian boy band, that is now disbanded. Its members were Saša Lozar, Tin Samardžić, and Damir Kedžo, all finalists of the Story Supernova Music Talents, reality show aired on Nova TV in late 2003.
Damir Kedžo is a Croatian pop singer. While he started his career in 2003 by participating in Story Supernova Music Talents, he became even more famous in Croatia after winning the third season of Tvoje lice zvuči poznato, the Croatian version of Your Face Sounds Familiar. He also performed in musicals.
Mijo Mirković, also known by his pen names Miho and Mate Balota, was a prominent Croatian poet, novelist and economist. Considered one of the most prominent Croatian poets of the 20th century and often credited as the greatest Istrian poet, he was called "the greatest Istrian after Labin's Matija Vlačić" by Tone Peruško.
The Croatian music festivals are a series of music festivals which showcase the top Croatian musical acts, in both traditional and contemporary music. They usually involve live performances as well as awards given by festival jurors as well as from the fans. The majority of the festivals release a compilation of the songs entered.
Martina Majerle is a Croatian singer of mixed Croatian and Slovenian descent. Majerle represented Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 in Moscow, Russia with the string quartet Quartissimo with the song "Love Symphony". It competed in the second semi-final but failed to reach the final. Martina has also been a backing vocalist for several countries in various editions of the contest.
Alen Vitasović is a Croatian pop singer and songwriter. Born in Pula, many of his songs are about his native Istria and mostly written in Chakavian dialect.
Melodije Istre i Kvarnera is a Croatian song contest, held annually in multiple towns in the Istria, Primorje-Gorski Kotar and Lika-Senj counties. It consist of a competition amongst previously unreleased songs.
Lorena Bućan is a Croatian singer and the lead vocalist of Magazin. Bućan rose to fame in 2018 after finishing third on the second season of Zvijezde. She has signed a contract with record label Tonika Records where she primarily collaborates with musician Tonči Huljić.
Nikola Marjanović is a Croatian singer-songwriter and voice actor. He was the lead singer for the pop rock bands Sane and Radio Luksemburg.
Bishop Mile Bogović was a Croatian Roman Catholic prelate, and church historian, who served as a Titular Bishop of Tamata and Auxiliary Bishop of Archdiocese of Rijeka–Senj from 4 June 1999 until 25 May 2000 and the first Diocesan Bishop of the newly created Gospić-Senj from 25 May 2000 until his retirement on 4 April 2016.
Antun Kalac was a Croatian poet, writer, playwright, literary translator, and revivalist of Croatian nationalism among the Istrian people. He was also a Catholic priest.

Šime Kurelić was a Croatian politician from Pićan and a revivalist of Croatian nationalism among Istrian Croats.
Elena Naperotić, known by her stage name lennie, is a Croatian singer, songwriter, and dancer. She came to prominence in 2011 as the performer of the first single from the album "Traži se prijatelj" which is dedicated to all victims of violence in Croatia.

The Melodije Istre i Kvarnera 2023 was the 53rd edition of the annual Melodije Istre i Kvarnera, a song contest held annually in multiple towns in the Istria and Primorje-Gorski Kotar counties of Croatia. The show was held between 19 and 24 June 2023, and presented by Lena Stojiljković and Borna Šmer. Andrej Baša served as the artistic director for the competition.
Melodije Jadrana 2023 was the first edition of the Melodije Jadrana festival, a song contest held annually in Split, Croatia. The show was held between 23 and 25 June 2023, and was presented by Duško Ćurlić and Monica Jakšić. Neno Belan served as the artistic director for the competition.
The Melodije Istre i Kvarnera 2022 was the 52nd edition of the annual Melodije Istre i Kvarnera, a song contest held annually in multiple towns in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar county of Croatia. The show was held between 22 and 25 June 2022, and presented by Robert Ferlin, Mario Battifiaca and Uršula Tolj. Andrej Baša served as the artistic director for the competition.
