Meritxell Mateu i Pi (born January 19, 1966) is an Andorran politician, member of the Partit Liberal d'Andorra [1] who served as Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2007 to 2009, being the first female to hold this office. Previous positions she has held include ambassadorships to France, the Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, and Slovenia. [2] In 2011 she became a member of the Andorran Parliament.

Andorra has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest six times, debuting in the 2004 contest and participating every year thereafter until the 2009 contest. Andorra withdrew from the contest following its 2009 appearance, with the national broadcaster Ràdio i Televisió d'Andorra (RTVA) citing financial difficulties as the reason for its withdrawal. The country has not entered the contest again since.
