Meskanaw is a small community south west of Melfort, Saskatchewan. Meskanaw is the Cree word for trail or road.
The community, an organized hamlet with the status of designated place, had a population of 18 in the Canada 2006 Census. [1]
The first settlers came to Meskanaw in the late 1890s. Mr. W. E. Traill was the first inhabitant of the town. [2]
Wakaw, Saskatchewan, is a small town 90 km northeast of Saskatoon and 66 km south of Prince Albert. It is about halfway between the two cities and is served by Highway 2, Highway 41 and Highway 312. Wakaw is in hilly partially forested country east of the South Saskatchewan River. The area is part of the aspen parkland biome. Wakaw is about 11 miles north of the town of Cudworth. Wakaw is a Cree word meaning "crooked", the name being taken from nearby Wakaw Lake and applied to the town.

In 1905 the railroad came through and renamed it Marcotte's Crossing, two years later it became known as Howell, and finally in 1922 it was later named after the bishop Msgr. Joseph H. Prud'homme. Bayne No. 371 is a rural municipality in north-central Saskatchewan, Canada encompassing 802.93 square kilometers in area. The rural municipality has within its boundaries the un-incorporated communities of Bremen, Sagehill, Dana, and Peterson, and Muskiki Springs. The rural municipality maintains its office in Bruno, Saskatchewan. The rural municipality in conjunction with the provincial government is in charge of maintenance of highways in its area. As well, the municipality provides policing, fire protection and municipal governance for the rural district, with a reeve as its administrator. The rural municipality was established on January 10, 1910 named after Deputy Minister, J. N. Bayne.
