Metermaids is an American underground hip hop duo based in Brooklyn, New York. [1] It consists of rappers Sentence and Swell. [2]

Contents

History

Metermaids released Nightlife and Nightlife in Illinoise (a song-by-song mashup with Sufjan Stevens' album Illinoise ) [3] in 2008. [4] [5] The duo released the Rooftop Shake album on Strange Famous Records in September 2011. [6] It is produced by 9th Wonder and M. Stine and features guest appearances from Rob Swift, Buck 65 and Sage Francis. [7] [8]

It was written by Elliott along with frequent collaborator Cainon Lamb as well as Shawn Campbell and Marshall Leathers from production duo The Arkitects for what was supposed to be Elliott's seventh studio album Block Party, while production was helmed by Lamb, Campbell, and Leathers. In the song, sound elements of the 1981 arcade game Donkey Kong are heard throughout the song.

Raised in Decatur, Georgia, Simmons was signed to Jim Jonsin's Rebel Rock Entertainment imprint in 2006. Two years later, Jonsin and Simmons signed a joint venture deal with fellow Georgia rapper T.I.'s Grand Hustle Records, an imprint of Atlantic Records. Chidera Anamege, now known by his stage name Chiddy Bang, is an American rapper from Philadelphia. Prior to its breakup, Chiddy Bang was an American hip hop duo consisting of Anamege, under the stage name Chiddy, and Noah Beresin, under the stage name Xaphoon Jones. The duo was introduced by former band member Zachary Sewall in late 2008 while the two were studying at Drexel University, in Beresin's hometown of Philadelphia. Anamege's sound is based on the fusion of hip hop and alternative using samples from artists such as Ellie Goulding, Radiohead, Sufjan Stevens, Passion Pit, MGMT, Matt and Kim and Yelle. In 2013, Beresin left the group to focus on producing, and Anamege became a solo artist, with Beresin playing the role as frequent collaborator.
