Mevar Kumar Jamatia (born 5 June 1968),is a Tiprasa Indian Politician from Tripura. He is the former Minister of Tribal Welfare,Industries and Commerce,and Forest in Biplab Kumar Deb ministry. [4] [5] [6] [7] He became the MLA from Asharambari Constituency by defeating CPI(M) candidate Aghore Debbarma by a margin of 6,987 votes. [8] [9]
Jamatia joined NEHU,Meghlaya for his B.A. studies. He completed his Masters in sociology from NEHU in 1995. He was an active leader of the Twipra Students' Federation (TSF) becoming the General Secretary later. [10]
In 2018,Mevar Kumar Jamatia took oath as the cabinet minister for Tribal Welfare,Industries &Commerce,and Forestries in the Biplab Deb Ministry.
On 12 May 2022 he was removed from the post and isolated from the IPFT party and just three months before the 2023 Tripura Legislative Assembly election he resigned from the member of Tripura Legislative Assembly on 8 November 2022 and joined Tipra Motha Party on 10 November 2023. [11] [12] [13]

The Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra was a political party in the Indian state of Tripura. Bijoy Kumar Hrangkhawl was the President of the party. It merged with the Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Alliance (TIPRA) party on 11 June 2021.

The party was merged into the Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura (INPT) in 2001,However diverged out in 2009. The party is allied with BJP in the 2018 Tripura Legislative Assembly election and won eight seats out of eight contested seats. The party got 7.5% of the total votes polled. The BJP got 36 seats and with a total of 44 seats the BJP-IPFT coalition have two-thirds majority at the Legislative Assembly.
